This exciting event includes great entertainment, activities and of course, BBQ! The City of Bexley is honored to have this event hosted next door to our community. Buckeye Kosher Buckeye Kosher, operated by the Vaad Ho-ir of Columbus, is a 501c3 non-profit agency that has been servicing the needs of the kosher-keeping community and clients who desire kosher certification for more than 30 years. The organization is run in a partnership between a rabbinic board and a lay-board of community members. The organization aims to educate consumers and clients in how to reach their goal of becoming kosher and receiving kosher certification for their production.

BuckeyeKosher is on a mission to raise the profile of kosher offerings in Columbus and to bring more options to the kosher eating consumer. Our belief is that Columbus’ Jewish growth depends on it.

Our Pitmaster Max Mcgarity

Back this year is our pitmaster, Max McGarity. Max has won multiple awards for his smoking skill and has competed at events, such as the Columbus Jazz and Rib Fest, Canal Winchester Ribs Festival and Food Truck Festival. He has been featured in 614 magazine and on Fox28 news, Business First, and the Dispatch.

He has just opened a (non-kosher) restaurant in the Brewery District, Smoked on High BBQ, to rave reviews and many accolades.

McGarity smokes his meat low and slow for 12-14 hours. For 350 lbs of ribs for this year’s festival, that is a lot of time by the smoker.

Broadcasting Live Shawn Fink

Shawn Fink has literally grown-up in the radio and entertainment business. Hardly a week goes by that someone doesn’t mention to Shawn that they heard his birth announced on his father’s - then daily - Jewish-radio program in Cleveland.

Shawn made his stage debut as an infant held in his father’s arms as he introduced Cleveland’s Mickey Katz before a concert at Fairmount Temple, and Shawn’s been entertaining audiences in Cleveland, Columbus, and across the United States, ever since.

As producer and substitute host of the “Shalom America” radio program for the past 25 years, Shawn ensures that the latest and greatest of Jewish music fills the Cleveland airwaves every Sunday morning on WINT 1330 AM/101.5 FM. Since 2009, he has served as the VicePresident of Operations of Radio-J.com, the Judaic internet radio service of Olam Broadcasting Inc, on which he also hosts the daily “Artist of the Day” program, and serves as “The Voice of Radio-J” in IDs and promotional announcements.

Columbus is the responsibility of the entire community.

The Community Shelter Board is a planning and funding board that has been addressing the problem of homelessness in Columbus and Franklin County, Ohio for the past 15 years. The effort has been successful in creating a comprehensive system that helps prevent homelessness, meets the immediate needs of homeless people, and offers ongoing services to keep people from returning to shelters.
