Location: San Isidro / Lima-Perú

The building seeks to pay tribute to the district of ‘San Isidro’ by drawing conceptual inspiration from the ‘Parque del Olivar’, adopting the organic shapes inherent to its trees.

On the other hand, the building manages to integrate itself despite its contrasting form within an orthogonal context.

At a contextual level, the tower of the project aligns with the adjacent corporate building, while the lower height area integrates with the residential zone.

The building prioritized pedestrian integration, achieving a permeable structure, which is divided by uses. For this reason, the office tower was proposed adjacent to Av. Jav Prado, while the other uses (culture, commerce, recreation, and cultivation) were oriented towards the east.

The building implements innovative construction processes, spatial relationships, a green roof, and a double-skin system. Regarding the open areas, they function as integrative squares, equipped with green areas, water mirrors, furniture, and illuminated pavement.

A plot of land was commissioned in the historic center of Lima, located at the intersection of Jr. Lampa and Apurimac. The immediate context and typologies of the area were taken into account to conceptualize and develop appropriate strategies for the subsequent creation of a multifamily building.

3 P A R T S (Base, Body & Crown)

The proposal aims to reinterpret the Lima’s traditional mansion, highlighting the ‘Cajón Balcony’ as the protagonist element from the colonial era.

“The proposal aims to adapt to the surroundings using the following strategies:

- Preserve the urban corner typical of the downtown area.

- Respect neighboring heights.

- Reinterpret the crown in an organic form.

- Create a skin resembling lattice work.”

The building exhibits a strong cultural influence, being adjacent to the renowned ‘Huaca Pucllana’. For this reason, the concept of “DUALITY” is employed, establishing two bodies within the building and classifying it by function. The private area (residence) is located on the upper part, and the social area (site museum) is situated on the lower part.

The plaza can be interpreted as the reconquest of public space and the celebration of water. This area also serves as a reception area, recreational zone, and contemplative space, as it brings together residents and visitors. This space is defined as a hard terraced plaza, which is equipped with vegetation and water features.

In the construction realm, the decision was made to establish two materials that convey the concept. For the tectonic zone, a skin resembling waves was proposed, as Pucllana paid homage to the sea. On the other hand, for the lower part, materials that provide a sense of solidity were considered.

A revaluation of ‘La Herradura’ Beach was carried out, which currently presents various pathologies caused by the lack of activity in the area. After conducting research, a Master Plan was proposed, concluding that the best strategy is to implement new uses such as commerce, housing, and recreation, which will revitalize the area.

As part of the project development, a 5-star hotel was designed, located in the boulevard area. This building includes a diverse program, as well as multiple types of rooms with ocean views. On a formal level, the building is inspired by the sinuosity of the waves. Its curved shape stands out, welcoming the visiting user, and it also features infinity pools and relaxation areas on the upper levels.

The project begins with the decoding and study of nature, identifying patterns of a natural element. These patterns are repetitive across all elements of nature, presenting variations in terms of size, proportion, and grouping index of their cells.

From the decoding in 2D, new three-dimensional speculations are proposed, which are endowed with form and different spatial relationships, with structure and space being a single element.

In the detail, one can appreciate how the various elements are assembled, and their connection with the terrain and the lake.

As a result of the experimentation processes, a typology was proposed that relates to the site. This futuristic project would host a mini-city, where the main base of an Environmental Impact Center would be located. This center would ensure the preservation of the snow-capped mountains and lakes of the mountain range.

This section of the master plan consists of a large bifurcated element, which is anchored to the topography. The buildings in the form of cells are suspended from this large element. Each building has a different typology. Some are buried, semi-buried, and others are elevated.

The developed project aimed to remodel a park in the district of La Victoria, specifically intervening in the Ernesto Garcia Calderón Park. The proposal sought to preserve existing vegetation while implementing endemic species. Spatiality was enhanced by the fluidity of the paths and meeting spaces, aiming to stimulate the senses with scents, the use of water, and various surfaces. Tensioned structures were implemented as covers due to climatic factors.
