Over 300 attend holiday event; it will turn into annual tradition BY JEFF YORK For the Daily Corinthian
The true spirit of Christmas was apparent with the first Crossroads Community Christmas being an overwhelming success. Tommy and Marea Wilson’s idea to open the Living Free
building helped fed over 300 people on Christmas Day. Tommy Wilson, founder of Living Free Ministries, said he was overwhelmed by how well the day went and how many people were touched by the Christmas Day event. “We are already looking for-
ward to next Christmas to do this again,” said Tommy Wilson. “I had no idea how many people would come this year, but Corinth desperately needed something like this on Christmas Day.” Tommy said it was great for he and Marea to have their chil-
dren, Preston and Olivia, work with them during the event. “I told our kids that when you are giving, you will be the one getting blessed with a good feeling,” he commented. “I do not know when I have had a better feeling.” Please see EVENT | 3
The big political switch
Deadline to give extended to Friday The spirit of giving is alive and well in the Crossroads area as several more donations have arrived for the 17th Annual Corinth Rotary Club/ Daily Corinthian 2012 Christmas Basket Fund. The $20,000 goal is just a few dollars short, so the deadline to give for this very worthwhile cause has been extended to Friday. The civic club and newspaper set a $20,000 community fundraising goal this year so 1,000 food baskets could be given away to local families Dec. 15 at the Crossroads Arena. The event was a huge success this year with plenty of need. Food was distributed on faith the goal will be reached.
