BRANDON, Miss. — An exmartial arts instructor made ricin and put the poison in letters to President Barack Obama and others, the FBI charged Saturday, days after dropping similar charges against an Elvis imper-

roed in on a rival of Dutschke’s, then decided they had the wrong man. The hunt for a suspect revealed tie after smalltown tie between the two men and the 80-year-old county

judge who, along with Obama and U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi, was among the targets of the letters. Dutschke’s house, business and vehicles in Tupelo were

Iuka landmark is only remaining Mississippi drive-in theater BY STEVE BEAVERS sbeavers@dailycorinthian.com

IUKA — The state’s only remaining drive-in movie theatre needs the help of the public. With movies being converted from reels to digital next year, the Iuka Drive-In must come up with the money to purchase the needed equipment to stay in business. “To make the change it’s go-

ing to cost around $65,000,” said employee James D. Seigars. “Right now we are trying to raise the money in the community and have some donation areas set up at the drivein.” The drive-in has been a fixture in Iuka since May 2, 1957. Next month will mark its 56th anniversary for the theatre which was first just called the

Drive-In. Ironman 3 is set to be shown during the anniversary weekend. Open from April to October, the historical landmark shows a double-feature each Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 and 9:15 p.m. The drive-in is owned by Bubba Jourdan and leased by Earl

More prayer. The simple two word phrase is the answer to many problems facing America today, according to some local pastors. The community will get a chance to come together as one and pray for the circumstances faced around the world today during the National Day of Prayer on May 2. Thursday’s time of prayer is the 62nd annual observance in America with First United Methodist Church in charge of coordinating the local event this year. “I think we need to get

prayer back in the United States,” said Rev. L a m a r W a l k e r of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and one of those taking part in the annual observance. “Over the years it has been taken out of so many things, now is the time for more prayer in this county … it’s what this country was founded on.” Walker is part of eight local pastors who will be taking part in the event set to Please see PRAYER | 2A
