The City of Corinth is making a few changes in its employee benefit offerings in the coming year. The Board of Aldermen vot-
ed last week to change providers for vision, dental and life insurance. Enrollment is currently in progress. The city is staying with Blue Cross Blue Shield for employee medical insurance and with
AmFirst Insurance for gap coverage. The city covers the entire health insurance cost, including the gap coverage; employees do not take a payroll deduction for health insurance.

Representatives of the Friends of the Siege and Battle of Corinth completed the donation of 11 tracts of land totaling over 350 acres to Shiloh National Military Park on Thursday, Dec. 8 The Corinth Unit of Shiloh National Military Park was established on Sept. 22, 2000, and has an authorized land area of approximately 950 acres. With this donation, the park now owns over 800 acres of the Corinth battlefield unit. Among the donated lands are Battery Robinett, Confederate Siege works, various surviving fortifications, and significant portions of the battlefield landscape, where attacking Confederate forces engaged the Union garrison occupying the town in VFW Quartermaster Michael Gold and bartender Holly Crum prepare for Christmas and New Year.

Continuing their efforts to raise money for local veterans and community causes, VFW Post 3962 of Corinth is preparing to host their annual New Year’s Eve Blow Out. Slated for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, the sparking gala will feature live music, party favors and champagne to toast the New Year. Classic and modern country music entertainment will be provided by the Dwight Wadkins Band beginning at
7:30 p.m. A hearty breakfast consisting of eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy will be catered by Bobby White, owner of the Pit Stop Cafe. Orange juice, coffee and other beverages will also be provided. The breakfast will be served in the auxiliary room. Two bottles of champagne will be available at each table for the New Year countdown and toast. Attendees will have the opportunity to watch the ball drop on the big screen. Group donates over 350 acres to Shiloh park
Basket Fund tops $5,000 The 21st Annual Corinth Rotary Club/Daily Corinthian Christmas Basket Fund has topped the $5,000 mark. A $23,000 fund raising goal was set so 1,000 food baskets can be given to local families beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Crossroads Arena. The newspaper has received $5,305 in donations so far. Donations include a $100 anonymous gift; $100 from Ryan and Pat Jacobs; $40 from Helen and John D. Caroll in memory of Marie Dyson; $30 from W.D. Smith, Melody Wallis and Deedee Smith in memory of Johanna Smith; $100 from Charlie and Janis Honey in memory of Wallace and Quay Poole; $100 from Mickey Davis, Stefanie, Scott, Sarah and Sydney McClain in memory of Bobby Dean Davis; $50 anonymous gift in honor of the Ladies of the Roundtable; $100 from Ann P. Rhodes and Lin R. Gilmer in memory of Linton and Mike Rhodes; $1,000 from Waldron Street Christian Church; and $200 from Sam and Barbara Tull. Christmas Basket Fund donations can be made “in honor of” or “in memory of” a special person or persons. The tribute will be published in the Daily Corinthian. Charlotte Icardi enjoys keeping busy as a volunteer with groups such as the Crossroads Museum and the Magnolia Regional Health Center Auxiliary. Originally from Utah, she and husband Steve came to Corinth about 15 years ago from Maryland for his work with ATK in Tishomingo County. A member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, she is passionate about the environment and animals, especially birds, and enjoys flower gardening. The Icardis coordinated Audobon activities locally for some time. They have seven horses including Tennessee walkers and a Trakehner, which is a dressage horse, and they enjoy riding.
