While shoppers give thanks for great deals this week, the Corinth Police Department is increasing patrols and encouraging bargain hunters to be safe. “We’ve got some extra help coming in during the daytime and evenings watching parking lots,” said Police Chief Ralph Dance. “There will be extra pa-
and items laying out in plain view where they can reach in and grab it or where they might knock a window out and grab it.” Shopping in groups and staying in well-lit areas is recommended. “Safety is a big issue this time of year for ladies going in and out of stores late in the evenings

Giving thanks Area residents pause, count blessings Giving thanks for that which is most important, Crossroads area residents are pausing to count their many blessings amid the hustle and bustle of the busy holiday shopping season. These are their thoughts to celebrate Thanksgiving Day and this special time of the year. “I’m thankful for my friends and family. Both of my parents live in Corinth, and I have a brother who is only a few hours away. I’m also thankful for being able to live in one of the towns I grew up in. Having come back to Corinth, I’ve met plenty of new people but also have grown in my relationships with people I’ve known from years past. Even though it keeps me busy, I’m thankful for being involved in various areas of Corinth, whether it’s church, work, or community. We have a good sized town, I believe: too big to be boring, not big enough to be annoying.” — Cody Daniel, 31, Corinth “I’m thankful for God’s grace when I fall short. I’m thankful that I have Crohns Disease because the struggle has taught me to appreciate every moment and to take nothing for granted. I’m thankful Baldwin that I’m blessed with loving family and friends. I’m thankful for 17 years as a teacher and all those children teaching me far more than I ever taught them. I am thankful for my daughter Abbie and my parents, C.B. & Pam Baldwin. I am especially thankful that Jeff loves me!” — Holly Baldwin, 38, Ramer, Tenn. “I am thankful that I was planted in a family who had a deep faith in God and who taught me to have a servant heart. I am thankful the Lord led my husband and me to each other and for the children and grandchild we have been

blessed with. I am also thankful for my extended family and the people the Lord has placed in my life who have greatly influenced me. I am ultimately thankful for God’s divine plan of salvation.” — Jimmie Timbes, Booneville “I am thankful for ... God’s grace and my salvation in 1998. My best friend and wife Lisa. My three boys – Josh, Jake and Jonah. My mom and dad still being with us. God has placed me in a position where Smith I can speak into the lives of young people daily. I am one blessed dude!” — Travis N. Smith Jr., 49, Kossuth “Thankful for ... God’s unfailing love; God’s full salvation in Christ Jesus; a 50-year marriage to my teenage sweetheart and his devotion to his bride; children who are employed, who have had lasting marriages, who care for others more than themselves and are people of deep convictions; grandchildren who are employed, healthy have a sense of humor, walk in integrity; holding my six-month old great-grandson; and friendships built upon trust. It is good to be alive.” — Cheryl Meints, 65, Corinth “First and foremost, I am thankful for the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I am thankful for my family. Last and certainly not least, I am Warren thankful to be living in the USA.” — Sergio Warren, Rienzi “Most often I’m thankful for my accomplishments or the good times bestowed me. How-
ever, this Thanksgiving I’m most grateful for the toughest of times that in the end reminds me who is in charge. My sentiment of, ‘It may not be your plan, but it’s God’s plan,’ humbles and strengthens every contentious wave that tries to pull me asunder. Those tough times also bring around warmhearted faces that reminds me everything’s going to be alright.” — Zack Feazell, 31, Corinth “This holiday season I want to express my thanks for: The eternal and unchanging promises of God — that I am His and He is mine, now and forever; my family, friends and co-workers Potts-Parks who know how to share a laugh and who make my life so rich with joy; the way nature is breathtaking in all its beauty from the leaves exploding in color to the green that renews every spring.” — State Sen. Rita Potts-Parks, 53, Corinth “I am thankful for God. His infinite wisdom continues to guide me. I am also thankful for family and friends. But I am most thankful to the men of my church for dedicating their time to mentor and provide an outlet to the young boys that may, otherwise, not be present.” — Dale Leonard, 55, Rienzi “I’m thankful for my family and great friends. I’m thankful to live in the kind of loving and giving community that Corinth is. I’m thankful to live in a city that has such high Christian values as we do here in Corinth.” — Corinth Mayor Tommy Irwin “I am thankful for my healthy children, those rare days when my home does not smell like a fraternity house, slow cookers, Please see THANKS | 5A
