Green Market turns red in November BY JEBB JOHNSTON jjohnston@dailycorinthian.com
With fall’s arrival, the Crossroads Museum is looking ahead to the season of red and green. The Green Market committee has announced the 2014 Red Green Market and opened the vendor application process for the Nov. 22 event that will cap the season. “It’s the biggest market of the year, drawing the largest crowds and excitement,” said Museum Director Brandy Steen. “It’s a great opportunity for our local growers and artisans to get a share of all of the gift buying that starts around that time.” The event is positioned the weekend before Black Friday with extended hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It often attracts some different vendors than the usual month-to-month mix at the market. “There are some people who only do their art or craft at Christmastime,” said Steen. “You can find some great holiday decorations, and there are a lot of unique gifts that you

Trash and Treasures Restaurant brings back ‘food memories’ brings miles of bargains BY KIMBERLY SHELTON kshelton@dailycorinthian.com

IUKA — The highways of Tishomingo County will be littered with treasures next weekend. Trash and Treasures Along the Tenn-Tom is back for an eighth year of yard sale mania on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3 and 4, from Burnsville to Iuka and from the state line to Belmont. “We have a lot of regulars that set up every year,” said Theresa Cutshall, one of the organizers with the Tishomingo County Tourism Council. “It’s a good opportunity to get rid of a lot of stuff you don’t want.”
Anyone can participate at their own homes along the route or in one of several designated points along the way where sellers will gather to draw big crowds. More than 50 miles of secondhand bargains will beckon. “A lot of people just like to browse, and there’s always the chance you might find something you weren’t thinking about, but there it is,” said Cutshall. In addition to the usual yard sale fare, shoppers will sometimes find some locally made items such as jewelry and knives.
