Their weapon of choice for Saturday’s “Warriors for Christ” at the Alcorn County Courthouse will be to rally fellow Christians for a celebration of Christianity and southern heritage. “Christianity is alive in northeast Mississippi,” said Anthony. “We want that to be known Saturday.” Several speakers have been lined up to address the crowd on Christian issues during the 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. event, according to Anthony. “This is not going to be a political rally,” he said. “It will be one of heritage and not hate.” Nashville recording artist Evan Adams, Southern Christian rock band Second Chantz and local band Lost Cause will be performing during the free event. A memorial service is planned for Confederate flag supporter Anthony Hervey. Hervey was killed in an automobile accident in July. U.D.C dedicates library at Crossroads Museum BY KIMBERLY SHELTON kshelton@dailycorinthian.com

Designated in loving memory of a local author, historian and educator, the Margaret Greene Rogers Research Library will be dedicated by the Corinth Chapter of the U.D.C. (United Daughters of the Confederacy) from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20. Northeast Regional Library System Director William McMullin will serve as the master of ceremony. The dedication ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. In addition to a few words from Corinth Mayor Tommy Irwin as well as other speakers, attendees will enjoy water and light refreshments.

Located inside the Crossroads Museum and Historic Depot, the memorial library contains mostly reference books regarding the history of Corinth and the Battle of Shiloh, which the late Rogers believed to be the pivotal turning point in the struggle for control of Corinth. “There are texts on a widevariety of different subjects, including the Civil War and aerial history,” said Executive Museum Director Brandy Steen. “Items cannot be removed from the library. However, there is a conference room attached where a person can research an item.” Now at home within the museum, the library has found its

A self-described teller of tales and a third-grade teacher for 36 years at East Corinth Elementary, Greene was a life-long pedagogue and preserver of the past. Please see LIBRARY | 2A
