The group is also questioning the composition of the six-member Jacinto Foundation board. Since Tishomingo and Prentiss counties do not provide financial backing for Jacinto as they once did, the residents are not happy that four of the six board members are from those neighboring counties. “I want to see more local people in that Jacinto community involved in this board,” said Arnold. “You live there and your houses are there and your property values are affected, and I think you need to have a good sayso in this thing.” The Boards of Supervisors

Concerned by the condition of the grounds and the historic Jacinto Courthouse, a group of southeast Alcorn County residents is pressing for changes. “We’re wanting to make sure the courthouse gets preserved,” said Willie George. “We can get the grounds cleaned up, but if we don’t get the courthouse fixed immediately, it’s going to fall.” About 20 residents gathered at the office of the Alcorn County Board of Supervisors Thursday night for a discussion with four area legislators — Rep. Nick Bain of Corinth, Sen. Rita Potts Parks of Corinth, Rep. Bubba Carpenter of Burnsville and Rep. Tracy Arnold of Booneville. Supervisors Lowell Hinton and Tim Mitchell were also present. “I didn’t realize it was in

Boys & Girls Club kicks off new year BY STEVE BEAVERS sbeavers@dailycorinthian.com
Something to do. The Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Mississippi is still a positive place for kids. Corinth Unit Director Trecee Grayson is putting the word out for youngsters. “I want everyone to be in a hurry to get here,” said Grayson. “There is going to be something to do and the kids are going to be excited to be here.” The club’s new year got started
Thursday. Children were greeted with some new changes to the club building on the first day. “We started working on things at the end of July,” said Grayson. “The kids have been amazed … this is their club and we want them to take ownership of it.” Some of the changes to the building include: ■ Walls have been repainted. ■ Floors have been stripped, waxed and buffed. ■ The trailer, next to the
