Arch Bullard is a happy man. Voters across Northeast Mississippi on Tuesday choose the Corinth native as the Democratic nominee for First District Attorney. “I couldn’t be Bullard happier,” he said. “It’s all thanks to the 15 plus years I have worked in these counties as prosecutor, building relationships and making friends.” Bullard received 22,738 votes over assistant Assistant District Attorney Paul Gault, who received 17,371 votes. “I am overwhelmed by the amount of support in Corinth and Alcorn County,” added Bullard. “My wife and family have been so involved in the community making sure folks made the right choice. I love this Please see BULLARD | 2

Area school earns top marks in state BY JEFF YORK For the Daily Corinthian

RAMER, Tenn. — The first day of school was even more exciting than normal at Ramer School when new principal Dr. Sondra Kiser got to announce the school had been named a Reward School by Tennessee’s Department of Education. Ramer School is in the top five percent of schools in Tennessee for performance — as measured by overall student achievement levels — and the top 5 percent for year-overyear progress — as measured by school-wide value-added data. Kiser said the school would have some type of celebration

later in the week to recognize the outstanding award from the state. Ramer School, the smallest school in McNairy County, was the only school in the county to be recognized as a Reward School. “We were very excited to make this announcement on the first day of school. I can’t think of a better way to begin the school year,” said Kiser. “We know that Ramer School is a great school and we are back to where we know we should be in academic progress.” The Reward Schools span 59 districts across TennesPlease see RAMER | 3
