ADAMSVILLE, Tenn. — A 4-year-old boy remained on life support at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center Friday as a pair of Adamsville residents were formally charged with child abuse for allegedly causing his injuries. Anthony Dilworth, 39, of 337
Myrtle Road, is being charged with child abuse. He is the father of the child in Le Bonheur. Dilworth also faces charges in Shelby County. Kyrie Marie Kyle, 26, of the same address, is charged with aggravated child abuse and aggravated assault, according to a release by the sheriff’s department. Kyle is reported to be 18
weeks pregnant. Dilworth and Kyle are being held in the McNairy County Jail. McNairy County Sheriff Guy Buck said additional charges could be made depending on the condition of the injured child. A 3-year-old girl who lived at the residence was removed and
is now in the custody of relatives. The biological mother of the 4-year-old child lives in Memphis. Buck said the injured boy was brought to the McNairy Regional Hospital’s emergency room Wednesday night with

MICHIE, Tenn. — A Michie School teenager died Thursday night from injuries suffered in a four-wheeler accident close to his home. Carson Herrin, 13, would have been a 7th grader when school started next week. He was the son of Kevin and Melissa Herrin. The McNairy County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about the four-wheeler accident at 452 South Liberty Road in Michie around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Lt. Brad Johnson, deputy for the sheriff’s department. Johnson said family members found Herrin lying in a field where he usually rode his four-wheeler. Herrin’s fourwheeler was found around 200 yards from him and still running. The deputy said it looked as if the four-wheeler had flipped onto Herrin, resulting in his fatal injuries. Johnson said the teen was not wearing a helmet. Michie Principal Wayne

On this day in history 150 years ago Gen. A.J. Smith’s Union army again marches in Mississippi. Provisioned and slightly rested, the army heads from Memphis with the same goal as in July: keep Forrest and his raiders in Mississippi, and away from Sherman’s supply in Tennessee. Henry said Herrin was a funloving young man and a really good kid that loved to play sports. “We will make sure members of his 7th grade class will get all the opportunities they need to express themselves and their grief once school starts next week,” said Henry. Herrin was a football and basketball player for the Blue Devils, according to Michie coach Michael Cleary. “Carson was excited about playing football and basketball this season,” said Cleary. “He rode to basketball camp with me this summer and he could not wait until the start of the season.” Cleary said you rarely saw him without a smile and he was a friend to everyone. “Carson’s brother Brady played for me and Carson was a lot like his brother,” said Cleary. “Carson was one of the fastest players on our team and would have started for us as a slot receiver.”
