Paving projects set to begin in August BY JEBB JOHNSTON jjohnston@dailycorinthian.com
Several paving projects are scheduled for August and September in Corinth. The resurfacing will wrap up the program of work authorized when the Board of Aldermen allocated $400,000 for street improvements in March. The streets include: ■ Forrest School Road — Base repair and partial repaving of spots totaling about a half mile
■ Purdy School Road — Spot repairs and paving totaling about 2,000 feet ■ Oak Lane — Resurfacing from Shiloh Road to Magnolia with some base repairs The work will begin in early August with Forrest School Road. Those will complete the major projects for the current fiscal year. Looking ahead to the new fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, Street Commissioner Philip Verdung is urging the Board of
Mayor and Aldermen to get all of their paving plans into the budget on the front end rather than adding projects later in the year. “When you’ve got to do utilities and drainage, base repairs and concrete work, we need more time,” he said. “That’s what I’m shooting for this year — know how much money we’ve got and be ready to start planning Jan. 1.” Please see PAVING | 7A
