Insurance rates drop for county BY JEBB JOHNSTON jjohnston@dailycorinthian.com
Alcorn County is getting a break on health insurance rates for the coming year. The Aug. 1 renewal for Blue Cross Blue Shield will bring a 15 percent reduction in group medical costs, insurance broker Sammy Smith told the Board of Supervisors on Monday. County employees will see no change in benefits. Smith said the county had no large claims during the past year, and that helped get a favorable quote for the coming year. Employees will see no change in vision insurance rates and a small increase for dental.
