Take the keys out of the car and lock the doors. That’s the advice to residents from the Corinth Police Department as they investi-
gate a rash of thefts of automobiles in the area. “We are anticipating that this is a ring encompassing several counties — McNairy, Alcorn, Tishomingo and Prentiss,” said Capt. Dell
Green. All of the vehicles taken, including cars and trucks, were unlocked and had the keys in the ignition.

A couple of armed robbery victims lost more than their wallets at the Johns Street park. Two individuals were in a vehicle at the park on June 28 when a man approached them with a handgun and told them to empty their pockets. “He took their wallets and cell phones,” said Corinth Police Department Capt. Dell Green. “And, strangely, he told them to take off their shorts.”

Giving students a leg-up, Northeast Tiger Works presented a free, public workshop on Monday. Held from 9 a.m. until noon at NEMCC’s college campus, the Career Pathways Summer Enrollment Workshop provided attendees with a wealth of information. Topics covered included how to enroll in college at Northeast, how to apply for financial aid and who to see for advising, assessments and class schedules. An avid outdoorsman, Charles “Chuck” Thomas is never happier than when he is hiking, fishing, camping, swimming, or enjoying time with friends and family. Always the life of the party, the 31-year-old is regularly seen at CT-A productions, concerts, festivals, car shows and other community events in Corinth – his favorite being the annual Slugburger Festival, where he buys the delicacies by the dozen. An employee of Ashley Furniture in Ripley, Charles is the son of Glenda Mathis (Arlin) of Ripley and the brother of Renee Pepper (Billy) of Falkner, Bradley Thomas (Mallory) of Ripley, Brian Thomas (Lynn) of Ripley and the late Leona Thomas. He is the grandson of the late Catherine Swinford of Ripley. Charles is engaged to Daily Corinthian reporter Kimberly Shelton of Rienzi. His hobbies include drawing, traveling and playing video games.
