SELMER, Tenn. — An assistant district attorney is being investigated on allegations of theft and possession of a controlled substance. Bob Gray was terminated from his position of 25th Judi-

A variety of government office closings and garbage collection schedule changes are set for next week as a result of Independence Day. Corinth and Alcorn County set their holiday schedules to mirror that of state offices, so city and county employees will have a long holiday weekend with both Monday and Tuesday off. As a result, the Corinth Street Department set the following garbage pickup schedule: The Monday and Tuesday routes will run on Wednesday beginning at 6 a.m.; the Thursday route will run on Wednesday beginning at 7 a.m.; and the Thursday and Friday routes will run on Friday beginning at 6 a.m. For Alcorn County garbage customers, Waste Connections will run all routes on the normal days next week with no changes. The Corinth Library will be closed on Monday and Tuesday. Monday is not a federal holi-

FARMINGTON — Two new aldermen were among the officials taking the oath of office during a swearing-in ceremony at Farmington Town Hall Sunday afternoon. Community members, family, friends, state officials and other dignitaries were among those present as the Farmington Mayor and Board of Aldermen were sworn in. Josh Hodum began the ceremony with a prayer asking for God’s guidance as the officials work as servants of their community. Chancery Judge John Hatcher, an attorney
for the town in the past, led the recitation of the oath. Before beginning the swearing-in, Hatcher said it was an “honor and a privilege to be here.” Dale Fortenberry took the oath of office to serve a fourth term as mayor of the county’s second-largest municipality. Prior to serving as mayor, he served a term as an alderman. Farmington incumbents Lowell Gann, Johnny Potts and Jeff Patterson were sworn into office for a new term.
