CMYA seeks help from community BY ZACK STEEN zsteen@dailycorinthian.com

As plans are being finalized for the reopening of the former Corinth Sportsplex, now known as Crossroads Youth Ministry Association or CMYA, owner Pat Tucker is seeking help from the community. “There is much to be done to repair and renovate the property,” said Tucker. “It will take prayer,

time, effort and finances. We will gladly accept any or all these things from churches and individuals in the community.” In April, Tucker purchased the former Corinth Y or YMCA after three-quarters of a century of providing community-driven youth sports. “Because of some bold and heroic efforts on the part of the board of

directors, the property was retained by Crossroads Youth Ministry Association,” said Tucker. “We hope to renovate the facility this summer and hopefully be ready for programs to start this fall.” “Timing is completely dependent on renovations,” he added. Tucker said the new, multi-denominational Christian 501c3 nonprofit organization will be focused

on youth ministry and sports. “The organization is currently building a large community-wide board of directors focusing on Christian church leaders and successful Christian business people,” he said. “The goal is to keep the ministry spiritually and financially on track to serve the youth of our Please see CMYA | 2A

Woman answers call with book BY KIMBERLY SHELTON kshelton@dailycorinthian.com

Answering her calling to encourage women to live greater lives, Chantea M. Williams, a former teen mom and 1997 Corinth High School graduate, recently completed her first book titled “The Greater Working Woman Devotional, Volume 1.” A Christian, inspirational book, the 30-day devotional was written for flawed women from all walks in life. “Many women battle with self-image issues and trying to fit in everywhere they go,” said Williams. “Often times, women spend so much time caring for others they neglect themselves in the process.” “Women lose sight of their own value,” she continued. “This book will remind them

there will always be greater works for them to do.” Penned specificly for teen moms, the 35-year-old hopes her book will encourage all teen moms to reach for the stars. Williams shares her story of overcoming the obstacles and hardships of teen motherhood at the age of 15 in hopes it will inspire others to pursue their dreams. “I’ve received some good feedback so far. Day three seems to be a favorite among readers,” said the author. “It has been a blessing. I am still in awe of it.” Released on April 27, the encouraging devotional is available in hard-copy and e-book. “The Greater Working Woman Devotional, Volume 1” may Please see WILLIAMS | 3A
