Panel weighs infrastructure issues BY ZACK STEEN zsteen@dailycorinthian.com
(Editors note: This is the third of a five part series to be presented each Sunday on the task forces set up by the Commission on the Future of Alcorn County.) The Commission on the Future of Alcorn County originally setup the Infrastructure Task Force to create a master list for each area of current
infrastructure and to develop strategies to address areas of concern. In the beginning, co-chairs Gary Chandler, Alliance president, and Ben Albarracin, Corinth city alderman, put in place a long term strategy to meet quarterly to review the master list of projects as well as address ongoing needs. “We have met with the heads of local utilities to determine the sta-
tus of ongoing projects and issues, said Chandler. “From that we have been able to develop a master list of projects and ongoing needs and issues. We have also developed a plan on how we can help address these ongoing needs and issues. With ACE Power, the task force learned of several ongoing projects including the new prepay program for residential customers.
“Over 900 members signed up for this program in its first year, said Chandler. “The program allows customers to pay more frequently instead of waiting till the end of the month. Customers are able to track their usage and reduce their usage under the program. The task force learned about Please see TASK FORCE | 6A

Her trusted companion sits patiently as Kelly Pittman works with children at the Boys & Girls Club. While kids come and go through the study area, threeyear-old Kenyon is still as a statue and staring straight ahead. Now isn’t the time to play for the black lab. His only thoughts are taking care of his master. “He is like a member of the family, said the 22-year-old Pittman, who has been legally blind since the age of 11. “Everywhere I go in the house, he is right there.

Corinth Theatre-Arts received bad news this week with the resignation of artistic director Cristina Skinner. “We have been honored to have Cris work with us, said Cathy Wood, CT-A managing director. “She brought enthusiasm, innovation and creativity to the Crossroads Playhouse. During her three years, she has overseen more than 15 productions and other special events at the local theatre. According to Wood, Skinner resigned from her posi-
