Summertime is a relaxed time for activities and many Crossroads area children look forward to Vacation Bible School as part of their summer fun. VBS is an annual event which works as a fun, creative supplement to a child’s study of the Bible. Along with study, there are fun, interactive songs and games. sis says you will not support over time,” said Barber. The market appears healthy, however, serving as a regional retail magnet, said the Stennis Institute’s Joe Fratesi. He pointed to the city’s sales tax diversion rank of 20th among all across the state as a positive indicator.
A Corinth man has been charged with felony fleeing by at least two local law enforcement agencies. Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Dusty Essary confirmed that Lionel Staton, 32, of Corinth, has been charged with felony fleeing law enforcement. Corinth Police Chief Ralph Dance advised Staton has also been charged by the Corinth Police for felony fleeing, in addition to reckless driving. The charges were filed after last weekend’s pursuit which began in Corinth and ended Tishomingo County. In an earlier report to the Daily Corinthian, Dance said officers responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle and suspicious individuals at the Huddle House on U.S. Highway 72 arrived to see an individual wearing a dark hoodie and holding a handgun. The person got into the vehicle and fled when he saw the police officers and refused to stop for officers. Essary had said the sheriff’s department picked the pursuit up in the Strickland area and were later joined by Tishomingo County deputies. Corinth officers terminated their pursuit as it crossed into Tishomingo County. The pursuit ended in Tishomingo County where shots were fired. In a formal statement, Tishomingo County Sheriff John Daugherty confirmed there was an officer-involved shooting that occurred at approximately 12 a.m. on Saturday morning on Mississippi

Citizens tackled these and other questions Monday evening as development of the city’s comprehensive plan for the future continues. Another meeting follows at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Corinth Elementary School gym to discuss the results thus far. Led by Orion Planning + Design, the process is intended to build a roadmap for future development to provide an excellent quality of life. “There are certain corners and edges and parts of the city that, when you encounter them, it may not necessarily convey the same message that you’re seeking to convey,” said Orion Partner Bob Barber. “So, the idea is: What is the future of the community?
