The Poetry Man is now for hire. Autry Davis and his beautiful storytelling talents are set to appear at numerous engagements this summer as he begins a new chapter in his life. “Telling stories has always been a hobby for me,” he said. “Now I’m starting to take it a lot more seriously.” Davis hopes to turn his love of story telling into big business. “I have always read if a person is going to do something for a living, then it should be something the person enjoys doing -- and I sure do enjoy this,” he added. The Guys, Tenn., native will be featured at five Storytime shows throughout June and July as part of the Summer Library Program at the Corinth Public Library. He is also scheduled to appear at the June 6 and July 11 Green Market at the Crossroads Museum in downtown Corinth. He’ll grace the market’s entertainment stage at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. both days. “I’m very excited about the Green Market show,” said Da-

The Alliance wants to help businesses get prepared. The Corinth Area Convention & Visitor’s Bureau is launching a new Visit Corinth mobile app later this summer, and The Alliance Community Development Director Andrea Rose is working to ensure all businesses are listed and listed correctly. “This app is going to be a helpful tool not just for visitors to the area, but also current residents,” said Rose. “We hope it becomes the go to app when a family is trying to figure out a new place to eat or shop in Corinth.” The Alliance will host a free seminar for all area business and restaurant owners or managers on Tuesday. “We are hosting two sessions to try to help fit everyone’s schedule,” said Rose. “There is no cost to attend.” Seminar sessions are slated for 8:30 a.m. at the Pizza Grocery Coffee Bar and noon at Vicari Italian Grill. Sessions should last less than one hour.

Although the doors are opening again at the Verandah-Curlee House, there is still a long way to go in renovating the 1857 structure.

Hospital honored for emergency heart care For the Daily Corinthian

Magnolia Regional Health Center EMS has received the American Heart Association’s Mission Lifeline EMS Silver Award for implementing quality improvement measures for the treatment of patients who experience severe heart attacks. Every year, more than 250,000 people experience a STEMI, or ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction, a type of heart attack caused by a complete blockage of blood flow to the heart that

requires timely treatment. To prevent death, it’s critical to restore blood flow as quickly as possible, either by surgically opening the blocked vessel or by giving clot-busting medication. Unfortunately, a significant number don’t receive this prompt treatment. Mission Lifeline seeks to save lives by closing the gaps that separate STEMI patients from timely access to appropriate treatments. Mission: Lifeline’s EMS Please see HEART | 3A
