A change in culture has been taking place at Magnolia Regional Health Center over the last several years. In 2012, executives at MRHC realized that a process improvement system needed to be implemented at the hospital. The Lean methodology was the answer, and since its implementation, processes have improved and employees and patients are happier. Lean, a process improvement methodology that involves creating more value for customers with fewer resources, was first used by Henry Ford in the early 1900s, as a way to integrate an entire production process. Later, in the 1930s, it was reinvented by Toyota, as they strived to eliminate large amounts of waste and improve their work flow throughout the entire car building process. “It’s all about making patient
Alcorn School District board member Mary Coleman didn’t dodge a questionable topic during this week’s school board meeting. Among the full slate of fundraiser requests submitted by seven different schools in the district, one raised concern from the second-year board president. The Alcorn Central Middle School football team requested permission from the board to host a fundraiser dodgeball class tournament. “I’ve seen a dodgeball tournament and many times there will be some participants who might be targeted for bullying during a game,” said Coleman. “That may not be an issue during this particular tournament, but I think it should be a concern of the people in charge of the event.” During a game of dodgeball,

The Kiwanis Club of Corinth will welcome a few familiar faces back to the Crossroads next month. Southern gospel trio Karen Peck & New River will return to Corinth to headline the club’s banner fundraiser, the 18th Annual Leon Frazier Memorial Concert. Set for Saturday, June 6 at 6 p.m. at the Historic Corinth Coliseum, advanced tickets are $12. Artist Circle tickets

Tennis players from across the South will converge on the Crossroads later this month for the 36th Annual Candy Classic Memorial Tennis Tournament. The United States Tennis Association sanctioned event is set for May 26-31 at the Corinth High School Tennis Complex.
“We are really looking forward to the tournament this year,” said Chairperson Dr. Robert H.
