Turf is a go for Warrior Stadium BY JEBB JOHNSTON jjohnston@dailycorinthian.com

The installation of artificial turf at Warrior Stadium is set to begin, while the track project is on hold. The Corinth School District Board of Trustees on Monday accepted Michael Pitt-

man Construction Co.’s bid of $690,277.70 for the installation of turf, which is expected to be complete about the first week of August. While Pittman had the low bid on the turf, the firm had the high bid on the track repair at $179,624.50, which was bid as

an alternate. Pittman was still the low bidder overall. Superintendent Lee Childress said the district is taking another look at the track project before moving forward. Turf is expected to lead to cost savings in the long term for the heavily used football field.

The next school year’s first football game would fall on Aug. 22. In other business before the school board, the reverter clause affecting the vacated Corinth elementary school properties is also affecting a Cass Street restaurant.

The board learned of a request from the city of Corinth for monetary consideration as the city works toward clearing the title for the owner of the Taco Bell property on Cass Street, and the school board has Please see TURF | 2A

The Alcorn School District Board of Education met recently for its regularly scheduled May meeting. The board reviewed a contract presented by Arch W. Bullard, who was unanimously voted last month to fill the vacant position as school board attorney. Interim attorney Robert

Krohn said it appeared to be a standard contract. “I see no red flags,” said Krohn. “I would only suggest there be a better definition of when the contract begins and ends.” Bullard will be paid $30,000 for up to 240 hours per year. Board members questioned Please see CONTRACT | 6A

meth,” said Jason Willis with the unit. “Officers with the Corinth Police Department notified us she was leaving the residence and a short time later we made the traffic stop.” During the stop, officers discovered Crowe in the possession of 2.5 grams of “ice” and the driver of the vehicle Erica Clark, 29, of 306 South Parkway, Corinth, had a warrant for absconding from the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Both women are jailed at the justice center with holds by the MDOC.
