Tornado destroys 1 Prentiss home

A home in extreme southeastern Prentiss County suffered major damage as the tornado that ravaged Tupelo and Lee County clipped the edge of the county. Prentiss County Emergency Management Director Ralph Lauderdale said the roof of the house at 318 County Road

Alcorn Central High School seniors will hit the stage this week for their annual Senior Sounds talent and variety show.

The show, featuring musical and comedy skits with the theme, “Fame,” will begin Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Corinth Coliseum Civic Center on Taylor Street in downtown

A new store for bargain hunters is getting ready to move into the former Big Lots location. Dirt Cheap, based in Hattiesburg, plans to open this summer at 1108 Highway 72 East. Property owners Danny Boatman and Lloyd Dunn are currently making improvements to the HVAC, roof and electrical in preparation for

Surviving Allison earns grand prize at Belk Southern Musician Showcase BY STEVE BEAVERS sbeavers@dailycorinthian.com

Surviving Allison is doing better than just getting by. The five-member local band is living large after being chosen one of the winners in a musician showcase. Surviving Allison was among six grand prize winners from over 2,000 acts in the Belk Southern Musician Showcase.

“The whole experience has been nothing but amazing,” said Drew Gann, bass player in the band. “We had the honor of meeting some outstanding artists from across the southeast and are so excited to see what this summer has in store.” Surviving Allison was part of 30 acts to audition in Atlanta, New Orleans, Dallas and Nashville. The grouped

performed a three-song set for a panel of judges to receive the honor.
