Corinth police released the suspect in Saturday’s shooting after determining it appears to be a case of self-defense during a home break-in. Lewis Boyd, 61, of 1704 Proper Street, was shot mul-
tiple times after he made entry into a home at 1500 Proper Street, resulting in his death. “It appears the shooter was protecting his person and his property,” said Police Chief Ralph Dance. “The case will be presented to the next grand jury, which is our protocol

BY JEBB JOHNSTON Corinth students will see a refreshed lineup of laptop and tablet computers for instructional use in the coming school year. The Corinth School District Board of Trustees recently accepted a bid for the sale of existing devices and approved entering a new lease agreement with Apple for computers and iPads. The district will sell 2,025 Macbook Air laptops, 159 Macbook Pro laptops, 106 iMacs, 41 iPods and 900 iPads for $1,274,175.79. Apple was the only bidder for a new lease of 2,050 Macbook Air laptops and 740 iPads totaling $610,952.34. Superintendent Lee Childress said pricing was more favorable than in the

The 11th Mississippi Volunteer Infantry will celebrate its 155th anniversary where it all started. The regimental flag of the infantry will be formally donated to Shiloh National Military Park on Wednesday, May 4 at the Corinth Civil War Interpre-

Originally from Booneville, Williams is the owner of a Balfour office which covers Northeast Mississippi and West Tennessee. “I have always really enjoyed seeing students recognize themselves for achievements in school,” said Williams, whose company supplies students with products including class rings and letter jackets, just to name a few. Married to Kim for 28 years, the couple have two grown children, 24-year-old Graham and 21-year-old Molly Grace. A member of Gaines Chapel Methodist Church, Williams enjoys a game of golf when he can find time.
