KHS Winter Guard wins Silver Medal For the Daily Corinthian

The Kossuth High School Winter Guard received a Silver Medal in the Mississippi Indoor Championship’s Regional AA Class competition recently held in Jackson. The talented group is under the leadership of director Dianne Cole and assistant directors Amy Porterfield and Rebecca Inman Groups are categorized based on their level of skills, which include the handling of sabres, rifles and flags. Judges make their decisions in the areas of equip-

ment, movement, design analysis and general effect. The KHS group’s show entitled “Tell Your Heart to Beat Again” is based on a song by the same title written by Danny Gokey and was chosen by Diane Cole because of its personal meaning to her. “I lost someone very special in my life to cancer in June, and when I heard this song, I knew it was perfect for my group. Their grace, beauty and style bring the song to life in the exact way I envisioned,” said Cole.

Jason Gunn designed and choreographed the show. The group began working on this show in December. The state competition was held April 1. Group members include Brianna Grimes, Ali Mann, Alyssa Mcalister, Autumn Woods, Kaitlan Rinehart, Sarah Trimble, Maggie Porterfield, Cheyenne Cornelius, and Alisha Thomas.
