A Mississippi Department of Education literacy coach will visit Alcorn County to help parents prepare children to clear
the new third-grade reading gate. The Alcorn School District is hosting an informational session for parents at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the board room of the
Alcorn School District administrative offices at 31 County Road 401. The district arranged for Literacy Coach Emily Eaton to meet with parents about the Third Grade Summative As-

Hundreds of smiling children, holding tightly to their Easter baskets, hunted for brightly colored eggs at the Crossroads Regional Park on Saturday. The 11th Annual Community Egg Hunt presented by Fox Promotions gave parents and their kids a fun day in the park. All you can eat chili will highlight next weekend’s slate of events. Held in conjunction with the Green Market season opener, the 8th annual Crossroads Chili Cook-Off is Saturday at the Corinth Depot. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., event goers can purchase a $5 all you can eat tasting kit and sample more than a dozen different chilies from professional cooks and local teams. All proceeds from the tasting kit sales will benefit the Cross-

Crossroads Regional Park will be filled all sorts of wild painted individuals on the run come April 25. Each of them filled with bright colors from head to toe in effort to draw more attention to autism. The Reconnect 4 Autism Color Run 5K is set to get under way at 9 a.m. at the city park. “We plan on using the entire park that day,” said run organizer Brad Essary. “April is National Autism Awareness month and we want to end it with a bright ray of color.” Registration is under way for the event and can be done by going to reconnect4autism. com online.
