Girls getting creative for ‘Princess’ event BY STEVE BEAVERS sbeavers@dailycorinthian.com
A few young girls have a chance to write their own happy ending. The Boys & Girls Club will crown a lucky winner in the “Princess in Me” contest tonight at the Corinth Coliseum Civic Center. “If any of them ever dreamed of being a princess this is their chance,” said unit director Christy Grice of the free event set for 6 p.m. Five girls from the club are slated to take part in the competition. The “Princess of the Year” will be crowned from contestants Khailand White, Arianna Burns, LaMiah Hoey, Jaya Hoey and Chloe Buchanan. Four other awards will be presented so none of the girls goes home empty-handed. “Everyone will be a winner in some fashion,” said Grice. The idea of the contest came about from the club’s monthly reading program. The group read about Disney princesses in March. “They will have to create their own original princess,” said Grice of the competition.

The music of Noah Richardson is a reflection of growing up in a small town. The 20-year-old singer and songwriter will give fans a taste of his style with a free concert tonight at Chapman’s Restaurant. “Music has always been my passion and I hope to share it with people,” said the Kossuth High School graduate. The free concert is part of the CD release party for Richardson. The party begins at 6 p.m. with the concert slated for 7. The Northeast Mississippi Community College student recently saw the release of “All That’s Left is a Song” after beginning the project last summer. “I have a wide and diverse taste in music and my songwriting is a reflection of that,” said Richardson. Six songs on the CD range from traditional country flavor to modern and southern rock. “I truly am Hank to Hendrix,”
