Possible hate crime probed BY ZACK STEEN zsteen@dailycorinthian.com

The Crossroads area has been thrust into the national spotlight following last week’s assault and possible hate crime on a Corinth man. Police Chief Ralph Dance said James David Scott, 23, of Tishomingo County, confronted Devin Norman, 26, of Corinth, around 1 p.m. Friday afternoon in the Wal-Mart

parking lot in Corinth. According to Dance, the confrontation started inside Wal-Mart after Norman threatened to “out” Scott on Facebook. Later in the store’s parking lot, Scott punched Norman in the face knocking him to ground and kicking him several times in the face. Scott fled the scene and was apprehended just east of Wal-Mart on Sara Lane.

Norman suffered several facial wounds and fractured bones and a broken cheek bone. “The victim and the suspect have known each other for awhile -- they had some type of relationship. They texted and called each other often,” Dance said. “It seems only threats were made, no actual Facebook post Please see ASSAULT | 2A
