Business district plan open for input BY JEBB JOHNSTON jjohnston@dailycorinthian.com
The Corinth Board of Mayor and Aldermen is allowing a little more time for the public to get familiar with proposed changes to Central Business District zoning.
A public hearing on proposed changes to the C-3 zoning this week brought several questions to the board, and aldermen agreed to continue the public hearing to the April 7 meeting. The review of the district’s provisions has “been an effort
to bring that portion of the zoning ordinances more in tune with current times,” said City Attorney Wendell Trapp. The area contained gas stations when Fillmore Street was part of the Highway 45 route, and that is no longer deemed an
appropriate use in a downtown known for its historic buildings. The proposed changes include a number of additions and deletions to the permitted uses in the district. Car washes, for example, are out, but auto detailing shops are allowed.

An exciting evening jampacked with over-the-top surprises, attendees will make a grand entrance as they bask in
the ambient glow of hanging tea lights illuminating the green space know as pocket park. Crossroads Arena is hoping to stick the landing this weekend. The multi-purpose facility springboards into the gymnastic field as the host of the Mississippi Gymnastics State Championships. Around 600 gymnasts, ages five through high school, began jumping, tumbling and rolling this morning. The state meet continues through Sunday. “This is a huge weekend for Corinth,” said Arena General Manager Tammy Genovese. “They plan on using every inch of the building and people involved with the event are staying as far away as Memphis.” Genovese projects about 3,000 total attendance over the three days. Tickets for the event are $10 per day. “This is something brand new and the type of event we are looking for at the Arena,” said Genovese. Corinth beat out Biloxi and Vicksburg to host the championships. The Mississippi State Administrative Committee, known as the MS SAC, is the
governing body for gymnastics in the state. The Mississippi Gymnastics State Championships schedule is:
