Work begins on Avectus’ new home BY ZACK STEEN zsteen@dailycorinthian.com

Construction crews recently began work on the new home of current Corinth employer, Avectus Health Care Solutions. The Alliance President Gary

Chandler said Roberts Builders of Ripley has began renovation on the exterior of the two-story former Chadco/Berry Motors/ Tyrone industrial building on Tate Street in downtown Corinth.

The building, which the company will lease from Alcorn County, will provide office space on the upper and lower levels. “We are pleased to finally see some progress,” said Alcorn

County Board of Supervisors President Jimmy Tate Waldon. Roberts Builders has 240 calendar days to complete the work, according to Chandler. “Some time was added to the project to adhere to a few

Mississippi Department of Archives and History requirements,” said Chandler. Renovation will include a parking lot that will encompass Please see AVECTUS | 6A

‘Don’t take Rienzi from us’ Pre-election voting: Still just an idea BY JEBB JOHNSTON jjohnston@dailycorinthian.com

In many states, a ballot doesn’t have to be cast during the polling hours of election day. With a new session of the Legislature in progress, Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann is again trying to nudge Mississippi toward approval of early voting. It’s not the first time he has pushed the idea of preelection day voting, which

Cancer support group continues help efforts BY STEVE BEAVERS sbeavers@dailycorinthian.com

Cancer survivors have a place to turn. The Corinth-Alcorn County Cancer Support Group is in its fifth month of giving survivors a place to meet. “Regardless of the type of cancer, people need someone to talk with about their battles,” said Lanell Coln, who started the group in October,

2015. “Talking to others is the biggest obstacle … people do not understand until they have cancer themselves.” Coln, a cancer survivor, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December of 2013 and spent almost five months in a Birmingham, Ala. hospital.
