Corinth man drowns in Prentiss pond

A Corinth man is dead after apparently drowning while fishing in a Prentiss County pond. The body of Charles Danny McCreless, 32, of Corinth was recovered from the waters of the private pond on County Road 5445 near Marietta late Friday afternoon, said Prentiss County Coroner Greg Sparks. McCreless had been fishing in the lake. A dive team from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, volunteer fire departments from Prentiss and surrounding counties and other search and rescue teams assisted with the search.

The sheriff’s department took 10 people into custody at a southwest Alcorn County residence Friday night after a vehicle pursuit and crash.

Chief Deputy Dusty Essary said officers seized more than 3 ounces of methamphetamine at the crash site on County Road 533. The Corinth Police Department’s Special Response Team assisted with

Ready for what will likely be a fast paced state Legislative session, District 1 Rep. Lester “Bubba” Carpenter said lawmakers will face some tough decisions in the coming months.
