Interior Architecture Projects

NEXT Interior Design Office Fall of 2023

The NEXT Interior Design Office is an ongoing project that is based in Dallas, Texas, it is a competition through steelcase in which the task is to design the office fully using steelcase furniture.

Senior Living Facility Spring of 2023

The site of this building was located in Padderborn, Germany which required a lot of research to execute the project correctly. This facility was the first major project assigned. The project was done in Revit, Enscape, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Remodeling of a pre-existing house for accessibility Spring of 2023

Remodeling the Hantz house in Fayetteville, Arkansas required innovative solutions to make the space fit the new codes and allow for a family to live and grow within the home. This project was done in Revit, Enscape, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Coffee Shop Fall of 2022

This project gave an introduction into revit including how to model in place, create staircases, and use new rendering software through revit’s render in cloud feature.

Therapy Office Fall of 2022

Being given a city in which a natural disaster occurred, the assignment was to create a therapy office that would allow the community a safe space to heal and learn how to get on with their lives. This project was done in Rhino, Enscape, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Roy’s Artist Retreat Summer of 2022

This project was done fully in Rhino, Photoshop, and Illustrator, aiming to create a 3 week artist’s retreat centered around glass blowing.

Leadership Experience

Camp Counselor

Summers of 2020 and 2021

As a camp counselor it was important to be outspoken and make decisions. Being in charge of 10 to 15 11 year old girls at a 3 week sleep away camp meant ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and overall cabin morale.

Major Tutor Group Leader Fall of 2022

Within Alpha Omicron Pi, many younger girls were interested in becoming interior architecture and design students as well. This role allowed communication between grades, a person to help guide them on their educational journey, and someone to talk to if they needed help.

Event Planning Committee

Spring of 2024

As a member of the Event Planning Committee I help to oversee the events that we host within Alpha Omicron Pi, as well as help to organize events that we are having.

International Experience

Florence University of the Arts Summer of 2023

Studying abroad at the Florence University of the Arts was a wonderful experience to learn about the architecture, history, and culture of another country.

ARTIST’S RETREAT FOUNDATIONS + DETAILS

01 CRYSTALLINE DESIGN OFFICES

When designing the Crystalline Design Offices, there were many factors to consider. The clients for this project tasked us to create an office space for the upcoming generations. With people transitioning to working from home after the Corona Virus, the clients have found it difficult to get employees back into the office. We were asked to make the office space somewhere that people will want to go and not only work, but spend their time at. Our clients core values within developing an office space were collaboration, innovation, and connection. In order to implement their values into this design the space planning was meticulously thought out along with the concept. My concept, “crystalline” a matter of order”, was developed through my decision to make this office the “gem of Dallas”. This office space is compiled of an array of many different shapes and sizes of space that come together to create a clear order and flow.

Custom Light Fixture:

This custom light fixture is made of a purple colored glass and molded to make gem like shapes. These lights are suspended from the ceiling and placed in a way to create order and allow light to come through them.

Originally created in Rhino, I went through many different iterations in shapes, sizes, and colors of these lights. After exporting the lighting samples into Revit and learning what worked, I found the best solution to my design problem was to create a single size shape and color to avoid the space becoming to busy.

The reception space wall is created out of custom glass tiles I created that follow a geometric pattern of triangles making up a square, 1’ x 1’ tile.

My wild card space is a gym. I chose this to be my wildcard space as less than 5% of adults participate in 30 minutes of physical activity a day, and only 1 in 3 adults receive the recommended amount of physical activity each week. I want my employees to be healthy and happy and know that their employers care about them and their health.

Rubber flooring: I used rubber flooring to absorb the shock and sound emitted from the gym as well as for safety purposes.

THE RUHE SENIOR LIVING SUITES

In creating the Padderborn senior living community we were tasked to make a space in which our residents would still live a comfortable life. Designing a senior living home is a complex and thoughtful process that revolves around ensuring the well-being and comfort of its elderly residents. This endeavor demands a holistic approach, incorporating both functionality and aesthetics. The architectural design should prioritize accessibility, with wide hallways and elevators or ramps, to accommodate mobility aids like wheelchairs and walkers. The layout must facilitate socialization and community engagement, with communal areas like game rooms, libraries, and dining spaces.

THE CANCER ALLEY THERAPY CENTER

Designing a therapy center involves a careful balance of aesthetics and functionality to create a welcoming and healing environment. The layout should prioritize privacy and comfort for clients, with thoughtfully designed waiting areas that offer relaxation and a sense of safety. Natural light and soothing color schemes can contribute to a calming atmosphere. Well-equipped therapy rooms, each uniquely tailored and equipped with comfortable seating and appropriate furnishings, cater to various therapeutic needs. Landscaping and outdoor spaces should be incorporated for those who benefit from nature’s therapeutic qualities. Overall, a well-designed therapy center promotes healing, self-discovery, and personal growth. It is essential to cater the needs of the clientele within the therapy center.

ROY’S GLASSBLOWING ARTIST’S RETREAT

Designing an artist’s retreat is a creative endeavor in itself, centered on fostering inspiration and productivity. This retreat is located in a tranquil, natural setting, offering seclusion and respite from the distractions of daily life. The artist’s studios with large windows, allow abundant natural light, and should blend harmoniously with the surroundings. Common areas for communal interaction and idea exchange can encourage collaboration and artistic growth. Materials and furnishings chosen should be versatile to accommodate a range of artistic disciplines. An emphasis on sustainable practices, from energy efficient design to eco-friendly materials, can align the retreat with the artistic community’s values. Ultimately, a well-designed artist’s retreat becomes a sanctuary where creativity can flourish and artists can find their muse.

FOUNDATIONS + DETAIL DRAWINGS

Foundational skills are essential to learn in any discipline. They provide the fundamental knowledge and abilities necessary to excel in any field. Detail drawings are crucial for any designer to be able to draw, read, and understand. These drawings allow designers to convey their ideas with meticulous detail and precision.
