Welcome to another exciting season of Bronco football! I look forward to watching our boys battle and compete for a league and valley championship. It is exciting to have head coach Benny Martinez and his entire staff working towards developing winners inside and outside the football field. On behalf of the students and staff at the Clovis North Educational Center, we would like to thank those student-athletes, coaches, football boosters, parents and staff members who work diligently to make the 2018 season a great experience for our community. As you browse through the program, you will notice a variety of individuals and groups who have made CNEC a great place to go to school. As principal, I look forward to developing bonds with these individuals to enhance the overall experience for our players and football community. I am honored and humbled to be able to work with not only the best staff in the district, but arguably the nation. Their dedication and commitment to student success inside and outside the classroom is not only inspiring, but also contagious. Our staff understand the high expectations and standards each player strives for every day and is willing to support these endeavors. I would be amiss if I did not recognize the commitment of our parents. Thank you for your willingness to hold your children to a high standard while providing the love needed to see your child succeed. Thank you for putting forth your time and energy to ensure the success of the football program. Your positive partnership is the reason we will be successful this season. As we witness our student-athletes and coaches compete, please remember to remain positive towards opponents and referees. It is our hope to always “win with class and lose with dignity. The Clovis North Educational Center will always remain a model for exemplary behavior for high school athletics. Good Luck, Joshua Shapiro, Ed.D. Principal

Welcome to the 2018 season of Bronco football. The coaching staff and our Clovis North athletes have been working hard to make this a special season for our school and the community that continues to support our kids. Coach Benny Martinez is in his second year as the head coach after being longtime assistant. Benny is supported by a talented, hardworking and caring group of assistant coaches who have already given countless hours in coaching. Coach Martinez’s energy sets an upbeat tone and he extends his best to each athlete and coach on the field. He and the boys are looking forward to bringing our fans a brand of athletic football that rivals the best in the T.R.A.C. A daunting summer of unprecedented heat has not stopped our football athletes from putting in physical and mental training: weights, technique, conditioning and coming together as a team have made the Broncos strong. We have put together another challenging schedule that will require our best and most focused football We move into our season in the TRAC with some hard-hitting experience. The TRAC is always strong and a source of rivalries steeped in time and tradition. I encourage all of you to be a part of the Friday night lights; stand up and root for the Broncos. It’s going to be a great season.

It is with great anticipation that we want to welcome all of you to the 2018 Granite Ridge football season. This year’s football staff has been working extremely hard with our young athletes to prepare them for what will surely be an exciting season. We know that Bronco Football would not be successful without significant dedication and commitment demonstrated by our Bronco families and our amazing fans. I would like to thank the Quarterback Club and all of our parent volunteers for all of their hard work and enthusiasm in making Bronco Football the best program it can be. In our “pursuit of victory with honor” we strongly urge our Bronco community to exhibit positive support for all our athletes, coaches as well as the opposing teams and officials. The experience and lessons learned by our student-athletes through their participation in athletics is something our young athletes will carry with them through their lives. Let’s continue to show the rest of the league that we do things the right way.

As we embark upon the 2018 football season, I am reminded that every season is a journey and every journey is a lifetime. I think of the memories of years gone by. The smell of fresh cut grass, friendly locker room banter and the buzz of anticipation on Friday nights all take me back to my own days as a player in the Clovis Unified School District. For nearly 27 years, it has been my privilege to serve as a coach in the district and now I am honored to serve as the Director of Football for Clovis North Educational Center. As an “Original Bronco,” it is a responsibility that I don’t take lightly, and I could not do it without the support of each and every one of you. I look forward to the challenge of building upon and raising the standards of the great Bronco football tradition. I would like to thank the CNEC administration, parents, boosters and community sponsors for making it possible. All CNEC football coaches will ensure the values of the Bronco football program will continue. Our strong coaching staff will “be the difference” in making football a memorable experience for our boys. This includes building great, recruitable student-athletes of good character by teaching essential traits that are needed to be successful in football and life. As “Doc” Buchanan has taught us, we believe that to be successful in football requires growth in the body, mind and spirit of each student-athlete. It is with much anticipation and confidence that we as a coaching staff enter this fall season. Your Clovis North Broncos, from the coaches to the players, have invested countless hours and tremendous effort into making this season memorable. Thank you for this opportunity to be a part of such a special program, I truly think of it as part of my own family. I look forward to seeing you in the stands on Friday nights watching our boys grow every week. GREAT DAY, GREAT DAY!

Quarterback Club The Quarterback Club is a parent organization established to provide support for our coaching staff. Through team management and organization we free our coaches to focus Team managers oversee all aspects of team operations starting on their team’s daily workouts and preparation for our opponents, so that we can win games! in the Spring through the end of the football season. Managing The Quarterback Club also provides support to our players and duties include: team website, communication from coaches to parents by maintaining updated communication via Shutterfly players and parents, calendar updates, team meals, team travel team websites, providing hydration and pre-game meals for plans and roster updates. all teams before all games throughout the season. Other tasks that the Quarterback Club takes on each season are Varsity fundraising, merchandise production and sales, money Tiffany Behrnes & Kim Casto management, uniform management, equipment procurement and management, transportation, snack bar, game program Junior Varsity and poster production. Missi Anderson At Granite Ridge and Clovis North we are in a unique position that gives us a competitive advantage over most schools. Freshman Our football program is more comprehensive than most because our Quarterback Club takes care of five teams Susan Montalvo (7th through varsity) as opposed to most programs that only take care of three teams (freshman through varsity). 8th Grade This gives us a competitive advantage because we all Victoria Evans share the same practice fields, equipment, and the overall coaching philosophy that comes from our Director of Football, 7th Grade Benny Martinez. However, taking care of five teams creates some challenges and is more expensive to run overall. This Megan Fuller & Erica Busta is why the Quarterback Club exists. The goal of the the Quarterback Club is to provide for our players at Granite Ridge and Clovis North. We raise money so that each player that leaves our program upon graduation Todd & Betsy Pigott | The Meat Market | Subway takes with them an experience that will benefit them for a lifetime. It is well documented that students who participate in sports teams make better employees, are more likely to finish their education and report having had a good experience during their high school years. Over the past 7 years, 37 student-athletes who represented themselves on the football field at Clovis North went on to The Copeland Family play at a higher level, including such schools as UCLA, USC, US Naval Academy, Army and Fresno State. In fact, five & Copeland Gardens former players are now listed on Fresno State’s depth chart to start the 2017 season. We have a track record of getting our athletes into college and we would like to continue that success. So, moving forward, we will need the support of ALL our parents -- from 7th grade to varsity. Please, get involved! It will take an active Quarterback Club to sustain our football program for the years ahead. Each Team Manager is listed on this page to the right. Please contact your team manager to find out how you can get involved and support Granite Ridge and Clovis North Football.
