By now, the Toastmasters of Division N must have gotten used to the congratulatory messages on becoming a new Division, a Division of their own. The creation of this Division has been a project in the making for a very long time, and everyone involved in it certainly deserves those congratulatory messages. However, it is very easy to rest and relax once such a big goal has been met. Arguably, finding a new direction to work towards after a goal has been achieved is far more challenging as opposed to before its completion. And this is where the Division N team has been shining. It has been over seven months since Division N was born, and the team has not slowed down one bit. It has been nothing short of a pleasure to see systems and processes being set up in a Division that is so new, such as the rapid creation of a well-organised extended team which is something even well-established divisions struggle with. The effort that goes into the newsletter is also a testament to the team's organisation and their energy and enthusiasm. The Division has been leading from the front when it comes to different creative initiatives too, like the Metro meeting, or the clash of Area Directors event. All these achievements are the result of effective processes. This topic is close to my heart and has been a critical part of my role too, as the District Administration Manager this year. The need for these processes has been compounded and made even more challenging because this entire year is online. Our way of working had to be revamped, and in some places built from scratch, as we adjusted not just to online Toastmasters meetings but also an entirely online model of cooperation and teamwork. There have been many challenges on the way, some as large and vague as figuring out how to keep the District team consistently engaged and communicating with each other in the absence of in-person training and meetings, to something as small but important as setting up a system to allocate the Zoom accounts that the District has in such a way that every Division can have an account available when needed.

Because of the unprecedented nature of District operations this year, there are a few templates, if any, to build upon. The impending reformation of District 98 in July 2022 has added a new layer of complexity too. As a District team, we have had to build these templates from scratch, with a process of trial and error. However, the Toastmasters platform gives you the chance for this trial and error, the freedom to make mistakes. This freedom and flexibility make it one of the best laboratories to learn about leadership. While we have embraced technology and automation as a District team to make the work easier, that is only a complement to what has kept things ticking along. I believe the primary ingredient of this secret sauce has been the strong relationships between officers who have worked together in the past and the relationships that were eventually built with the new officers who joined the District team this year. What brings all of us as Toastmasters together and keeps us together is the common desire to grow and learn, which is no less true in an online world. While congratulations are certainly in order, they are now a reflection of the past as Division N is already functioning just as a well-established Division of seasoned Toastmasters. This is made all the more significant because the team has made it happen while we are meeting almost exclusively online. I would like to wish the team that is working towards the future of Division N the very best and encourage every person who is not yet a part of the leadership journey in Toastmasters to take that first step towards it. The opportunities are endless. A world of promise and growth awaits. Himanshu Inamdar , DTM District Administration Manager District 98

In the year 2012, I walked into the oldest Community Club of Pune with a dream of giving an impressive presentation in front of the audience filled in the auditorium and some of them were sitting in the extra-chairs. I have considered Toastmasters as a forum to develop communication skills. Over a period of time, I could see so many opportunities in Toastmasters including leadership positions at the Club level, District level, and so on. And looking back on my journey in Toastmasters, I have taken up multiple roles at various levels like speaker and role players in Club meetings, Executive Committee roles in Club Leadership and at District Level served as an Area Director and now serving as the District Finance Manager. With time I have learnt that signing up for a role is much easier, but performing what you have signed up for with excellence is where the focus should be. Display and polish your technique, dedication and concentration.

I have seen members taking up roles like Ah-counter and Grammarian just before the meeting and I wonder what value they can give to the role and what the speakers/role players are going to gain from their report. In my view, even if you are taking up an Ah-counter role in a Club meeting, you need to have the passion of counting verbal crutches of a new member and the seasoned members of the Toastmasters Club. The seasoned members may be your President, Area Director or a District Champion, but keep in mind you must perform your role with perfection. You must count and provide the report, which will help them in improving as a speaker. Think about this and always prepare first. When you are prepared for a role, not only are you good at it but comfortable with it too. When it comes to District Leadership positions as well, the role is intriguing yet challenging. For each role, understand what is expected and ensure that you are qualified and you can commit the time required.

03

NEPTUNE 3.0 I am serving as the District Finance Manager and the responsibilities are quite obvious from the title, they need meticulous planning and time commitment. Because of the same, I get to interact with multiple levels of Leadership from Area Directors to District Trios and WHQ officials. This role is also an opportunity for me to evolve to that level. Similarly for each role, you get many opportunities, to perform, learn and develop with them. Most of us are working for organizations and we get opportunities to perform leadership roles there too, but the difference is the preparation required to get the opportunity and competing to get the role. In my view, this is comparatively easier in Toastmasters. However, Serving roles in Toastmasters also have challenges to overcome and responsibilities to deliver. I recommend all Toastmasters to take up Leadership roles at the Club Level and then go for the leadership roles at the District Level. Please keep in mind that you need to have the passion and time commitment for the same. If you possess that, then what are you waiting for? Go and volunteer to become a Leader. You may not get an opportunity like this so easily in your professional organization. Nagappan Palaniappan, DTM District Finance Manager District 98

Dear members of Division N, Congratulations to each one of you for becoming a Division. As Helen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”. From a couple of institution-based clubs to a Division of corporate, community and college clubs, Nagpur has certainly grown. Raipur and Nagpur have been cities where I have worked closely even in my profession. Knowing these cities helped me understand better the dynamics and challenges and I am fortunate that I could be of service to help spread awareness about Toastmasters in these regions. But, it is the members from Nagpur who were, and are, passionate, energetic and vibrant and who will take this Division forward. It all starts with YOU. Your contribution, and that of several others, will create magic. It will not only add to your growth, but will also add value to your Division. No position is big, none small. They are all leadership opportunities. Even a role of Sergeant-at-Arms can bring clarity on the nuances of a Toastmasters meeting. All Club officers have a pivotal role to play in the success of a Club. More than the position, it is what you do as a leader while you are at that position, that counts. There will always be people who will try to follow you, so how you take on the responsibility and carry it out, is important. Be the Right Way Leader, be authentic, be transparent, be consistent. Your actions should be aligned to the role that you are playing, they should be a reflection of the responsibility you promise to undertake. And while you are at your leadership role, be it a Club officer or a District Officer, it is important to enjoy serving others. Believe in what you do and do what you believe in. I wish the Division and its members success, growth and great learnings. Chandrashekar DP, DTM Past District Director (2016-17) District 98

“There is just one club in this city!” “Any District Officer will find it hard to serve this city, due to its location.” “This is not strategically a good place to invest Toastmasters Resources.” 7-8 Years back, these were the discussions that were often heard in the corridors of the DEC and DCM meetings. However, in the small rooms of the then Hyderabad Division Leaders the discussions were different, instead of “Why?”, “Why Not?” was heard many a times. The journey of Nagpur as a Toastmaster City had begun back then. If you can associate a story to a journey, then the journey becomes special and memorable. Nagpur Toastmasters' story although started with the belief of a few leaders, it sustained because of Leaders and Clubs in Nagpur. Every year this amazing city has produced such wonderful servant leaders, serving many citizens of Nagpur city to be able to utilize this wonderful learning platform called Toastmasters. The energy was such that it spread into Raipur and often to Hyderabad as well. Whenever I look at Nagpur, what does it teach us? Well for me it taught the importance of persistence, patience and belief on our fellow human beings. That if you persist on a goal that is worthy it can be reached, if you have the patience to face some setbacks your success is sure and more importantly if you wish to see only good in people a positive environment can be created. These lessons from this wonderful city continue to inspire me as I go about chasing my personal dreams. What does this journey mean to you? Do take time to reflect… Leaders in and around Nagpur asked me about the vision of Nagpur Toastmasters movement, can it be an Area, a Division, a District someday? I always like the energy and sense in those visions, but I never found strength in them. Hence for me, if you ask, what we all in Nagpur and around should consider a vision, this is what I would prefer “To make every club in Nagpur and Raipur a preferred choice of learning center to learn the art of effective communication and servant leadership which in turn can make our societies and organizations a better place to live and work”. I promise to be with you and the coming ones in the pursuit of such vision. Ravi Teja Marrapu, DTM Past District Director (2018-19) District 98

“An organization, no matter how well designed, is only as good as the people who live and work in it”– Dee Hock

The first Toastmasters Clubs in Nagpur and Raipur were College clubs. Then came in a community club, followed by a corporate club. Today we have 15 clubs with a mix of all three. This is proof of the tremendous growth we have witnessed in these two cities in the last decade. So, it was only natural that we become a Division in 2020-21. And I was most proud, privileged and humbled to be the first Division Director of Division N, District 98. When we started out in July’20, we were right in the middle of the pandemic. Our only vision was to bring in stability to the Division and increase awareness amongst members about the various leadership opportunities. On both fronts, we have done well indeed.

Together with the Area Directors, the Associate Division Director, the Division PR, PQ and CG Managers and their team members, we were successful in chartering one corporate club, one college club and will charter one community club before the term end. We were appreciated by Toastmasters International for our unique Metro meeting. We were felicitated for being the Most Empowering Division in District 98 by team Eloquence (the Annual conference of D98). Our members were actively involved throughout the year at Club, Area, Division and District events. Our YouTube channel and our Series Members Nplugged and Leadership Nveiled have been a huge hit. Our Division Newsletter Neptune 1.0 and 2.0 were rich in content and extremely well designed by the team. We were the only Division to dream of, and execute Clash of the ADS, which in turn helped many to read up about Toastmasters International. Our Facebook and Instagram pages have seen a steady increase in the number of followers. The list of our accomplishments goes on… And on 30th April 2021, we became President Distinguished.

All of this and much more, has been possible because members of Division N believed in the leadership, participated with equal enthusiasm and energy at all initiatives and helped the Division become a strong family of 250+ members. Virtual meetings, Collaborative projects across Districts, Innovative ideas were abundant. A virus could not stop our growth as a Division. As I bid adieu to the term 2020-21, I look back with pride and satisfaction. I know that Division N will continue to flourish and grow under the new leadership. My best wishes to the team and to each member of Division N. Let us empower, encourage and empathize. Let us bring more glory to our Division N. Toastmasters: where memories are also made. “And suddenly you know.. It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.”

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that one year down the line, I will be addressing the members of Division N as their Elected Division Director. When we started with Division N as a new Division in July 2020, we never knew we would reach this far of achieving the status of a President’s Distinguished Division. Our happiness was out of leaps and bounds when Toastmasters from various geographies helped to make this journey fruitful for us. We were ecstatic to find out that our members are being appreciated wherever they go. When I see the new members today, I find them much more aware and visionary than I was. The creativity that each one possess is astounding. The enthusiasm with which the members are working for their overall development is commendable. But how did this shift in mindset happen? It is all because of the previous leaders who have served the members and whom I cannot thank enough for creating a strong base for the Division. We have had some glorious moments of success throughout the year which was only possible because of the unabated passion shown by the members. Last year has been challenging for all of us but we have proved that together we can cope with any challenge that comes across. I wish Division N continues to function in this wonderful spirit of open and positive environment in which everyone’s focus is to become better with each interaction. The secret to groom your communication skills and become a great orator lies in participation. Involve yourself and Evolve as individuals should be the key. The next time you have an opportunity to take up a meeting role, give a project speech, participate in a contest or even attend a meeting, just grab it with open arms.

WTF! BRILLIAN S K, DTM District Parliamentarian, Past District Director, District 98 “A lot can happen over coffee”, I never thought that this tag line would come true for me. In my early days as a Toastmaster , five of my friends invited me out for coffee and my life changed after that meeting. My Leadership journey at Toastmasters began with a group of friends prodding me to take up the role of club President. I was associated with Rotaract (youth wing of Rotary) for a long time and had held various positions that gave me exposure to Leadership. After that fateful day, I have realized that Leadership is a unique journey and it is quite impossible to capture each aspect. My key learnings on this ongoing journey can be summarized in three letters… WTF! Before you start getting ideas, read on.

We are in it together : Some get pulled into leadership, some are pushed into leadership and some are yet to take the plunge. “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much” this quote by Hellen Keller holds true for us. The journey is about shared leadership, shared responsibilities and shared success. As a leader there are times when we must roll up our sleeves, sometimes we must direct and sometimes we are clueless. But when we come together to work towards the larger purpose, the journey becomes memorable. We need not be the master of everything, reality is that we may be Jack of some and master of some. We must learn to reach out to those who have the skillset, the competence to work together to

achieve the goals. We need to delegate tasks to teammates; they are our team members for a reason. When we work together, we can overcome every challenge. We need not do it alone, the journey becomes enjoyable when the team walks together.

Think long term: This was one of the key lessons I learnt. In our eagerness to make a mark, we ignore the long-term impact. While there were people who kept saying “this is how it is done”, you focus on your journey. My mentors and advisors always said, “look beyond yourself”. This helped me plan and strategise to aim at long term success rather than instant gratification. In doing so I had to take certain calls that many were not happy about. Every time I was questioned, I had to tell them, “what’s right is not always popular and what’s popular is not always right”. It is our mindset that needs resetting to focus on building the future. There are times when we must revisit our initial assumptions to redefine the future, just like we did when the Pandemic hit us all. We need to make decisions that have a bearing on the future.

12

NEPTUNE 3.0 Fun while you lead: We’re always told that leaders’ behavior matters, and we must always be serious. I, however, realized that leaders MUST remember to have fun as well. Our founder Dr. Ralph C Smedley encouraged us to do so.

Trust me when I say this, it is contagious and spreads fast. We should want our team to believe that working together is good and easy. As leaders, we must have a great sense of humor.

While it is good to be serious, we must seriously have fun. Fun does not mean that we are taking things for granted. We must lead in having fun so that members also feel comfortable.

WORKSHOPS TAKING UP TABLE-TOPIC LESSONS "A little practice each day adds up to big results." This is a secret formula to improve the impromptu speaking skills or in the Toastmasters' jargon, Table Topics. The Program Quality Team of Division N organized a three day Table Topics Marathon. The uniqueness of this event was that every participant was evaluated by a two super evaluators. The super evaluators were the masters from all over the district. DTM Animesh, DTM Smita, DTM Mayuri, DTM Abbas, DTM Manideep, TM Niyamat served as the superevaluators. Contestants were divided into two groups each day and were given two different topics. Each group had to deliver their Table Topics speech on the same topic and receive a constructive feedback from the super evaluators. Let's hear it from our participants of the workshop. “The Table Topics Marathon arranged by Division N was a great experience for me as a participant. It was a great opportunity for me as I learned more about impromptu speaking and discovered the creativity applied by other contestants on the same topic. I would like to thank the super-evaluators, their feedback proved to be helpful in improvement of my speech construction and delivery.” - TM Sarang Bansinge, BRIO Toastmasters Club

"The tips and tricks received by the super-evaluators helped me while contesting in my club contest. I was advised to first calm down before speaking. Also, not to go too far from the topic and keep it crisp. Lastly, use as many examples as I can." - TM Ambika Kulkarni, TCS Nagpur Toastmasters Club

When asked about organizing such contests and workshop, the Program Quality Chair TM Prashant Sharma stated that having a supportive team of 4 enthusiastic members helps him in organizing such events across the Division. The entire process also helps in improving their organisational and managerial skills as well as creating better networking. In the end he is left with nothing but utter satisfaction of doing something good for the members of our Division. Article Credit- TM Sakshi Bhuwal

WORKSHOPS SCRIPTING ISC WITH JERVIS PEREIRA, DTM The International Speech Contest workshop was conducted by the Program Quality team of Division N. The workshop trainer was DTM Jervis Pereira from Goa who trains people for different types of speeches. The main agenda of the workshop was to provide guidance to the members for the upcoming contest season. DTM Jervis asked what is the first thing you need to think about when you write ISC Speech. The correct answer is ‘message’. The ISC speech should give a simple but a subtle message. For ISC, your speech needs to have a good message. While writing the speech you must first build a story and the second is to know your audience. Like other speeches, the ISC speech should also have an opening, a body and a conclusion. The topic should be globally relevant and should convey a simple but a subtle message. Always have a topic relevant to International Level. You may choose a topic that is based on customs and practices prevalent in your Club or Community but may not be relevant to a larger International audience. Don’t prepare your speech thinking it’s just going to be at your Club level or Area level. Always think that you are writing a speech to be delivered at the International Speech Contest. Choose a topic that is globally relevant. How many times should the message be repeated? The answer is there is no specific number of repetition but atleast three times. The workshop proved to be a big help according to the members and they appreciated the efforts put by the leaders of the Division for this wonderful workshop.

TRANSFORMATION AT TOASTMASTERS TM RHEA JAIN | SSIPMT SPELLBINDERS My family is based in Bhilai Chhattisgarh, which is a small city close to Raipur. I completed my schooling from Delhi Public School. My father is a professor in college, so I grew up in an educational and disciplined family environment. Now, I am pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering in SSIPMT College, Raipur. To tell you about how I came to know about Toastmasters, let me take you to a flashback memory. In 2015, my father was part of the Dean - Training and Placement Office of SSIPMT and there was a plan to establish a college Toastmasters club. During this time, he got to know all about Toastmasters. In 2019, I joined the college and my father advised me to join Toastmasters Club, since he felt that it would have a definite positive impact on me. In July 2019, I got the intimation for the first induction meeting, where the first-year students are introduced to the concept of Toastmasters. I was quite excited to receive the intimation and was looking forward to the meeting! In the first induction meeting, I got the chance to participate in the Table Topics session, I was quite impressed by the positive feedback given in the evaluation segment. After that meeting, I along with 8 more of my fellow students felt that it would be a great experience and we started on our Toastmasters journey! In this journey, I have learnt multi-tasking in different roles as well as got the opportunity to participate in different corporate club meetings, which has been a great learning experience. Speaking about the transformation I experienced at Toastmasters, before joining Toastmasters, I was confident in life, but an introverted person by nature. I used to find it very difficult to be a part of social gatherings. But being a Toastmaster has helped me overcome my introverted nature and I have got the confidence to socialise and interact with people freely.

TRANSFORMATION AT TOASTMASTERS TM VIKAS DWIVEDI | SSIPMT SPELLBINDERS I belong to Rajim, near Raipur, Chhattisgarh. I completed my schooling, upto 12th class from a Hindi medium school. For graduation, I moved to Raipur, where I am now completing my Engineering from SSIPMT. When I joined college, I faced difficulties since my schooling background was in Hindi and the whole subject was being taught in English. I was in a bit of trouble as I was not understanding properly. I faced many challenges that time. Then in college, I got to know about a club which focuses on communication skills. Since I was struggling with English, I thought it would be good if I joined the college Toastmasters club, as it would provide me with an opportunity to practice speaking in English. In my first year of college, i.e., 2019, I first attended a TM Meeting during an Induction Program. In this program, first year students who are new in college are introduced to the concept of Toastmasters. I found that if I joined the club, I will be able to take up a role in the meeting and stand on the meeting stage for playing and eventually overcome my stage fear. Also, we had seniors in our college who were Toastmasters, who helped me with knowing about Toastmasters. Senior Toastmasters also supported me by giving constructive feedback and intimating me about other club meetings so that I could participate. TM Apurva and TM Kuldeep helped me a lot in all this. After joining, the different roles helped me gain evaluation skills, observation skills and at the same time I also got to improve my English language. I would say Toastmasters transformed me in all parts of my life. I had faced a situation when I took part in a contest and after preparing the whole night, I forgot everything on the stage. But now, I feel more confident and I am also able to interact properly with people due to Toastmasters.

NEPTUNE 3.0 IIM NAGPUR TOASTMASTERS CLUB "We do not need magic to change the world, and we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better." – J.K. Rowling In this new abnormally normal, stuck at homes, facing so many connectivity issues, sudden power cuts and technical fluctuations, when everything seemed so dark, and there was absolutely no way to move ahead. But, as they say – where there is a will, there is a way. With that bleak streak of hope, we started our journey this year and slowly but stealthily adjusted to this so-called new normal and found a place for us in these difficult times. Conducting meetings weekly and dealing with speeches was tough online, but our zeal overcame it. Club Activities 2020-2021: Apart from the weekly meeting held every Saturday/Sunday in the club, we conducted a couple of new exciting new ideas this year. For all the events, we went ahead with high social media marketing using different social media platforms. War of Imagination 1.0 – the college event conducted for all IIM Nagpur students saw hundreds of students' participation. With two rounds in the event, the first being an online quiz on the Kahoot app and the next one, on the spot story building and telling activity. This event help students with better story building skills and articulation skills. IIM Nagpur – IIM Raipur Joint Meet – For the first time, we conducted a joint meet with IIM Raipur – a truly enriching experience. When the best meet the best, we get the best. The online boundaries were not able to stop us from making the event a success. Spill the ink- Toastmasters not just enhances one’s public speaking but also focuses on overall personality development. A good toastmaster must also possess creative and thoughtful knowledge of words and must have decent writing skills. Catering to this thought, IIM Nagpur conducted the National Article Writing Competition“Spill the Ink.” The competition consisted of two rounds- Online Quiz and Article Writing submission. After clearing the first round, there were around 40+ national B-school students eligible for the second round where they submitted interesting 1000 words articles on exciting topics like Social media as an invalid instrument for heralding change, Popular sentiment should not take over the legislature, Humans turning into cyborgs make the need of preservation of natural resources redundant and many more. The competition ended with top winners from B-schools who won exuberating prize money.

Bring it on – A confident public speaker doesn’t just have the talent to showcase his/her views but also knows well how to defend and promote them. To promote public speaking, knowledge sharing, and competitive spirit, Toastmasters conducted an enjoyable Team Debate Competition- “Bring it On.” The competition was open for IIM Nagpur students where they could form a team of 2 people and compete in the debate. We saw significant participation of more than 15 teams that fought furiously over different science, technology, and society-related topics and kept the spirit of the competition alive. The battle ultimately resulted in the top three team winners, and accordingly, prize money was allocated. Leader’s Garage- Falling under the flagship event of IIM Nagpur, - Tangerine Trails, Leader’s Garage was the Toastmasters flagship event conducted nationwide. Leader’s Garage was the legit B-school competition consisting of Quiz and Case Study Solution. Nationwide, B-school students can participate in this event by forming a team of 2-3 students while answering and solving the rounds based on leadership awareness. The flagship competition witnessed more than 100 teams, which enthusiastically played the quiz and provided case study solutions. Ultimately, the top three winning teams were announced, and a whopping prize money was allocated. How Toastmasters Club has helped us pave our ways – a brief set of experiences from the IIM Nagpur students and alumni. "First and foremost, Toastmasters has made me overcome all my inhibitions about public speaking and made me extremely comfortable taking centre stage. All the speeches have made me explore myself and given me better insights and awareness." "When we joined the club, Toastmasters was perceived as a closed club, and students were not aware of the working of the club or what are the various activities that go on in a club meeting. Our first target was to create the required level of awareness about the club as an executive committee. It is done by organizing various national and college events. We also released our newsletter "Bits and Bytes" to prepare with students in the area of current affairs and GD. "Giving my first speech in front of the full class was a great experience. Anxiety and panicking made me mumble in the beginning. But once I got the flow and cheering smiles from the audience gave me confidence. So once I got the flow, the nervousness diminished. And, gave a speech better than what I had thought of before coming to the stage."

Managing all on the same virtual platform was a tough task which we overcame and successfully meeting weekly. EXCOM member team doing all task successfully without meeting each other face to face. Various roles as a TAG team helped me to develop overall." "I am the VPPR of the club... It means I have to get things verified from district and division heads for all the events and posters we make. This is very challenging and time-consuming work. I am learning patience and hard work being an executive member." "Being the executive member of the club has provided me with the thrilling experience of teamwork, coordination and deadlines. Overall it has developed me in a great way." Achievements 2020-2021: Being the largest club of IIM Nagpur, we see participation from club members and non-members. Till 2019, we focused mainly on weekly meets with the members, but this year. However, being a challenging one, we included college students and nation-wide participants for college and national events, respectively. We were honored with the Smedley award for the largest number of subscriptions in a cycle. Along with the events, we have rolled out our newsletter, bimonthly, to help students with PESTLE news and general knowledge. We have been organizing various workshops and guest sessions for the students at IIM Nagpur. IIM Nagpur Toastmasters Club has completed five years but has come a long way. From the accolades to the events organized, we were loved by the student community on each step by their enthusiasm and active participation. With this happiness and sense of achievement in our souls, we will continue to work to better people and guide them along their way to achieve excellence.

NEPTUNE 3.0 RAIPUR TOASTMASTERS CLUB It never happened before; that we are having a meeting at a public space. This idea initiated because we were in lot of pressure to charter the club at the end of June. The journey to reach here wasn’t that easy. It took lots of efforts and initiative to convince people about the benefits of this club. As pressure brings out best in people, so does this offline meet brought few members. When four of us were planning on how to execute this meeting at the same time we all were skeptical doing this, as a pre charter club we weren’t allowed to print anything official and plus it was happening at a very short notice. We thought if this idea happens to be complete failure at least the core people of Raipur could meet in person and get to know each other apart from zoom meetings. We ( TM Sakshi, Anshul, Husain, Bhumi , me and our couple of friends) met at a café, gather our resources to present the club and head towards the Raipur’s Marine Drive, what we call it proudly. We started with any official meeting with SAA, and conducted Table Topic Session. We were not expecting that energy but our efforts were worth it. Audience passing by was noticing what we have to say; even few people joined us and appreciated our young blood and how sky is the limit. Although weather was not helpful, it started raining heavily in our midsession and we had to head back to the café. It was a blessing in disguise, the core members could finally had their own table topic session with hot tea and toast. While having conversations I could feel the happiness and energy that how excited we all were to have Toastmasters in Raipur and how important it was to us. We are ready to set the tone and bring a change in Raipur with ‘Raipur Toastmasters Club’. I would like to thank everyone who made this dream a reality.

CONSISTENCY IS A KEY TO SUCCESS

We all are working on our dreams but we all are struggling with one big problem that is instant gratification. After studying a whole bunch of successful people I found that their journey looks like this graph. This graph shows you the "time vs growth". When you start you put hard work and effort. when you do it, you find low growth happening. And that made a lot of people give up in between the journey. Which is sad. Instead when you put that hard work consistently and Invest time you achieve tremendous success. So forget about instant gratification and put consistent work and time put in the hard work.

BE CONSISTENT

If you are set out for climbing Climb! And be consistent Slow or Fast Be consistent Dumb or Smart Be consistent Ten or just one hour a day Be consistent Think you got flaws? Carry them along But be consistent Flaws are your mold Appears horrible But cast you into a gem. So, be consistent. Being consistent taps the flow And once you start streaming along the way you will know How to let those flaws go So be consistent.

MY MUM’S CLOSET I’ve always known this that my mom has a unique scent. It’s the most warm and loving scent I have ever taken a whiff of. It’s the scent of knowing that I am home and everything will be okay. It’s the scent that assures me that no matter what, my mom always has my back. It’s the scent that tells me that despite whatever crap there is or however irritated and bugged I might be, she is just a phone call away. I used to love rummaging through her closet; the countless things that she kept in her cupboard left me in awe and all I wanted to do was dress up and be like her. Well, funnily so, today, I am often told that I sound just like her. Sometimes, I think to myself, are my traits really mine, or am I just her progeny? Every time that we would be getting ready for a function, my sisters and I would fight to decide what to wear while going through her extensive collection of clothes and accessories. She has been the laughter and joy, the warm sunlight and shelter, for many. I remember imagining myself as an Egyptian princess who bathes in milk and is served grapes and fruits while in her bath. Well, wasn’t I a royalist? Mom has taught us that we are all princesses in our own right; how could I ever think I was ordinary? She makes us feel special in so many ways that our cups are always full. She has taught me to love myself first. She was always so convinced that whatever we did was right for us that our trust in ourselves was something that has allowed my sisters and me to become strong, empowered women today. Feeling sentimental today, having moved cities, I miss her scent. Friends love the little trinkets and showpieces all around the house and are amazed at the detailing of it, because one thing that is evident from it all, is that; it exudes love, light and happiness. It’s a reflection of her.

DIARY OF A SHY TEENAGE GIRL She writes I see you from afar. Always laughing with your friends and having fun. But you never realise that someone is watching you, just to see you smile. Whenever you pass besides me, you never realise that someone’s heart pumps out loud. I always gaze around when you are not present in the class but you never realise that someone is waiting just for you. I am always lost in my books and when you come for my notes, you never realise that, I write them all just for you. Your friends make fun of me, but I never bother, just because you never laugh at me. You are a rich guy with many friends beside you and I am just a small town girl having a very few of them around. I lost my mother, father stays busy at work, I am the only single child. There is no one to share my sentiments with. I have nothing in my life, just you and your memories. All stored in this diary. I know, you can’t be mine. Still, I love you from afar.
