Toastmasters offers a structured platform for students to enhance public speaking and communication skills, essential for academic presentations, group projects, and job interviews, enabling clear and confident expression of ideas.
Through various roles and responsibilities within Toastmasters, students have the opportunity to develop essential leadership skills. These experiences prepare them to take on leadership positions in student organizations, manage projects, and lead teams in their future careers.
Toastmasters connects students with a diverse network of professionals and peers, both within and outside their university. This network can lead to valuable connections, mentorship opportunities, and potential collaborations that can enhance their academic and professional journeys.
Regular participation in Toastmasters helps students overcome the fear of public speaking, building their confidence in various scenarios such as classroom discussions, presentations, and even social interactions. This increased confidence can positively impact their overall academic performance and personal development.
Toastmasters emphasizes the importance of giving and receiving constructive feedback. Students learn to critically evaluate their own work and that of others, which enhances their ability to think analytically, improve their performance, and excel in their academic pursuits.
Meetings take place at Massey University's Albany campus (Gate 1), Level 2 of the Student Amenities Centre, from 07:15 am to 08:30 am every Wednesday.
