Emmanuel Cares Community Development Corporation, is a non-profit organization incorporated to provide programs for citizens in Northeast Houston through education, training, support services, and employment opportunities offered for children, youth, adults, and seniors. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, Emmanuel Cares CDC and the members of Emmanuel Church partnered with Wal-Mart, community members and concerned citizens with us from as far away as Dallas, Texas and Detroit, Michigan, to help provide relief for those in need. Through donations, we were able to provide clothing, shoes, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, and more. “At Wal-Mart, we believe in giving back to the community. The basic ideals and beliefs in which the company is founded teaches us to serve the communities around our stores. On December 9, 2017, Emmanuel Cares CDC held our Inaugural Gala Fundraiser Brunch at the Walden on Lake Houston Country Club in Humble, Texas in efforts to assist us achieve our goals. Our Keynote Speaker was Texas State Representative Senfronia Thompson, District 141 of Houston. We are still in need of monetary donations to ensure that the needs of the community are met.
