A brief introduction to co-production - what it is, why it matters and how to do it.
By the end of the session you will:
Understand the definition and principles of co-production, and their links to legislation in Wales. Know what co-production looks like in practice, and where it can add greatest value to your work.
Identify the first steps you can take to involve communities in your decision making (in the right ways, at the right times).
Mike Corcoran is a Consultant with Co-production Lab Wales, supporting organisations of all shapes and sizes across the country to embed the principles of coproduction into their work, and give their communities a voice. In North Wales, he serves as an advisor to the region's Public Services Boards and is a long-standing partner of Cwmni Egino.

Cadwyn Gyflenwi G&T, arbenigedd y mae wedi'i arloesi ers ei ddatblygu a'i ddefnyddio'n wreiddiol ar gyfer Gemau Olympaidd Llundain 2012. Mae wedi esblygu a chyflwyno'r dull hwn i lawer o brosiectau a chleientiaid mwyaf y DU.
Major projects have increased in scale and number over the past two decades. From the London 2012 Olympic project to the more recent major projects emerging from the nuclear and water sectors. These large nationally significant endeavours are getting bigger and more complex and in turn they create huge demand for the supply chain. The challenge is that these projects procure very few, very large contracts, so how can smaller regional businesses get involved?

John has over 40 years’ experience in the construction sector and has been a Partner at Gardiner & Theobald for 10+ years. He leads G&T’s Supply Chain Management function, an area of expertise he has pioneered since its original development and deployment for the London 2012 Olympic Games. He has evolved and delivered this approach to many of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects and client organisations.

The delivery of nuclear, as well as other low carbon energy and infrastructure projects, presents an opportunity to create social and economic benefits for local communities, the wider North Wales region and further afield in the UK. The procurement of all supply chain partners, from large enterprises to SMEs, is a key mechanism for this. This session will help you prepare for answering tender questions on social value. It will cover the fundamentals of social value and the policy context in Wales before providing advice and tips on how to maximise points from social value responses in tenders, and ending with a Q&A.
The session will cover:
What is social value and why is it important?
How does social value relate to Welsh policy and procurement?
Advice and tips on maximising points from social value questions with examples
The webinar will be delivered by Useful Projects and Ynys Resources Ltd, who are social value and sustainability consultants. Following the webinar, participants will be invited to book 1-2-1 surgery sessions with an expert where they will get tailored advice and feedback on SMEs’ draft responses a typical social value question. Please note that spaces will be limited and allocated on a first come basis.
