Carbon Valley Park & Recreation District Mission Statement: Carbon Valley Park and Recreation District strives to increase and enhance recreational opportunities by providing a variety of quality programs and activities for the Carbon Valley area community members. In addition, the District continues to provide new as well as traditional recreational experiences for present and future citizens of our District without regard to age, ethnicity, religion, gender or economic circumstances.

Rec Bucks

Annual F amily M embership Holder Discounts Rec Bucks is a “reward” system that makes the annual membership more worthwhile for families! Starting in January 2014 and ending December 2014, when patrons purchase an annual membership they will receive approximately 10% of the cost of their annual membership in Rec Bucks. The patron will receive the Rec Bucks after an enrollment/ registration or purchase ONLY if they hold an annual pass. The Rec Bucks will expire a year from the date of purchase. Rec Bucks can be used for a single purchase or use them for several different purchases. zz FREE 1hr daily KidZone admission per child/per day zz FREE Body Comp & Info Session with a Personal Trainer zz 2 FREE Day Passes $5.00 in Rec Bucks will be given for registering for the following activities for children: zz All youth sports which includes; basketball, soccer, softball, baseball, volleyball, football (flag), cheerleading, tennis lessons, and track. zz Special Events; Firecracker 5K, and soccer camp programs throughout the year. $3.00 in Rec Bucks will be given (for each session or monthly) from the registration fee for the following activities: Swim lessons, gymnastics, swim team, dance, massages, personal training sessions, personal training classes, Reiki, kids camps, art camps and youth night/family fit night. $5.00 in Rec Bucks will be given for purchasing Senior Lunch Passes, except annual family membership. $5 in Rec Bucks with purchase of $40.00 KidZone punch pass. Exclusions: Discount does not include: Adult softball teams, adult volleyball teams, adult basketball teams, BMX racing, CPR/First Aid classes, water safety class, lifeguard training, private swim lessons, youth cooking classes, and facility rental/parties, memberships or drop-ins. Rec Bucks cannot be used in addition to scholarships or for online registrations. Only (1) discount can be applied at a time. This camp, one of the most popular nation-wide, teaches skills and techniques that players need in order to master and refine their potential. The curriculum, taught by experienced Challenger Staff, includes a variety of foot skills, drills, practices, freestyle, small-sided games as well as scimmages and mini-tournament play.

C.A.R.A TRACK Ages: 5-16 Dates: Projected start dates in June Times: M/TH 8:30-10a Cost: $65R/$78NR Description: C.A.R.A (Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics) Track team is a fun, low-key introduction to the competitive Track and Field sports of running, jumping, and throwing. This Team is focused on building endurance, strength, technique and mental readiness. Individual self esteem as well as teamwork are both components of the program. Participants compete in meets on Saturday’s at various locations along the Front Range. Location: Thunder Valley MS Track Registration Dates: March 24th-May 17th

LACROSSE CAMP Ages: 8-17 Ages: 8-17

Dates: 7/7-7/10 Times: 9-12:00p Dates: 8/4-8/7 Times: 9-12:00p $99 R/$109 NR Description: Learn to play the fastest growing sport in America at this Lacrosse Camp instructed by Hustle Sports. Designed for beginners and intermediate players who want to learn lacrosse or perfect their skills, this week long camp will teach a varity of drills and games. All equipment is provided including pads, gloves, and helmets. Just bring water to drink and a great attitude! Volunteer coaches are needed to introduce the basic skills of football. No equipment will be used. Practice times will consist of once a week for 45 minutes to begin in early September. ROCKIES SKILLS CHALLENGE

Ages: 6-13 Dates & Times: Local: Tuesday, June 17th from 4-5:30pm at the Firestone Sports Complex Sectionals: July 12th-27th at various locations Time: TBD State: Aug 23 at Coca Cola All-Star Park in Lakewood Time: 10am. Cost: Free

Description: This is a FREE event to test running,

batting, and throwing skills. Local winners advance to sectionals, and sectional champions advance to compete at Coors Field prior to a Rockies game. State finalists will be invited to attend the Rockies game vs. Marlins at 6:10pm that day (August 23). Location: Firestone Sports Complex Registration Deadline: May 25th

Umpires Needed! Get Paid! Baseball/Softball Umpires

Youth and adults who have knowledge of baseball/ softball are needed to umpire our youth games. This is a great way to earn some extra money! You must be 14 years old to umpire at the younger levels. Pay depends on your experience and division. If interested, please submit an application at the Carbon Valley Recreation Center. Volunteer Adult Coaches are always needed for our Youth Sports! The CVPRD sports programs fill up fast. Registrations accepted during operating hours & during designated dates listed. Late registrations will be put on a waiting list with a $5 fee but are not guaranteed a spot on the roster. That wait list fee will be applied to program cost if added to a team roster. One wait list registration per person per time.

FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS 30/30 Cycle Power: 30 min. of cycling combined with 30 min. of core strengthening

Advanced Cycle: for cyclists looking to push themselves to the next level Booiaka $: this infectious dance class will leave you tired but hungry for more. Be a part of one of the fastest growing new dance sensations Bring your personality to the dance floor

Boot Camp: a little bit of everything; strength training, speed, endurance, and conditioning all in one

Core: get long, lean, and stronger with this core cutting class Indoor Cycle: Technique, power, and endurance training for the beginning to advanced cyclist

Kettlebells: focuses on beginner to advanced techniques for a full body work out Pilates Mat $: create long, lean muscles while gaining strength, flexibility, balance, alignment and postural improvements; students are encouraged to go at their own pace

Pre-Teen Adult Jazz/Hip Hop $: dancers experience their own groove in a supportive and energetic environment learning the basics in jazz and hip-hop techniques including center work, floor work, across the floor combinations and more. Please wear a form fitting top with jazz or baggy pants and clean sneakers. Black slip-on jazz shoes are optional Silver Sneakers Circuit: low impact class moving through a variety of circuit exercises

Silver Sneakers Classic: use free weights, elastic tubing, and a chair if needed for this fun class that keeps you moving and strong Strength: never grow bored with the variety of strength training modalities in this diverse class

All Levels Yoga: clear instruction is given in breathing technique, warm-up, stretching, posture and alignment while developing body awareness; variations in familiar postures while instructor guides students to their ability and comfort level Gentle Yoga: perfect for the new or beginning yogi looking for a peaceful and relaxing yoga experience Dynamic Yoga: invigorating vinyasa style class which combines stretching, postures, breath and flow while providing opportunities to learn new poses; rock your yoga practice to a new working edge in this fun and upbeat class Yin Yoga: hold poses for at least several minutes and stretch your connective tissues

Puppy-palooza* July 12, 2014 12pm-3pm: Take a fun little jaunt with your favorite four legged friend. This will be an obstacle race for you and your fuzzy partner, your cat or dog! We will have an obstacle course set up behind the rec center. Hope you don’t mind getting a little dirty! This event will be held to benefit and create awareness for local pet hospitals. Fee: $10 *All pets must have current vaccinations and license.

Strongman August 9th, 2014 12-3pm: Test your might in an old fashioned strongman completion. Open to men and women over the ages of 18. Events will include farmers carry, truck pull, keg toss, and more.

Stretch and Flex: incorporates the elements of dance and strength for a fun and challenging workout

Yoga Strength: power moves and postures for a challenging yoga workout

Program Overview: Our Red Cross based swim program creates an ideal environment to learn the fundamentals of water safety as well as stroke development and refinement. Participants will be given a report card to track their progress and indicate if they are ready to pass on to the next level. Proper swim attire is required, no clothing (rashguards are okay) as this inhibits proper movement when learning to swim. H₂O Turbo Improve cardio stamina, build lean muscles and increase flexibility. 5 part class: Intense cardio routine, upper body workout focused on arms and shoulders, Pilates-inspired moves for your core, building balance and flexibility, and ending with stretching utilizing yoga and breathing techniques.

These are private, one-on-one sessions where you can meet with a certified instructor and design an Aqua Fitness workout that fits your specific needs. See Private Instructor Rates on page 12.

Description: C.A.R.A. (Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics) Swim Team is a fun, low-key introduction to competitive swimming and is focused on building endurance, strength, technique and mental readiness. Individual self-esteem as well as teamwork are both important components of the program. All participants will compete in swim meets, where they can swim in up to three individual events and two relays. Ribbons will be awarded to every swim meet participant. Competitions are held on various weekends and at various locations. Come and join the fun of a structured team atmosphere. C.A.R.A. year runs from October to July. Swimmers can join at any point during the year. Prerequisites:

Swimmer must be able to swim one length of the pool using freestyle and preferably one length of the pool using backstroke. Gymnastics C.A.R.A. Competitive Gymnastics

The Carbon Valley Recreation District participates in a gymnastics league called C.A.R.A. It offers a recreation based gymnastics league. Training and skill development is a year-round program in which we prepare for competition. Gymnasts must be between the ages of seven and eighteen in order to compete in this program. Currently there are about 35 girl’s teams and 7 boy’s teams participating in the C.A.R.A. gymnastics program.

Gymnastics Birthday Parties

Enjoy 45 minutes of exclusive use of our gymnastics facility, followed by cake and presents (not provided) in our party room for 45 minutes. All paid participants must be close in age. Book your gymnastics party at least 2 weeks in advance at the Carbon Valley Recreation Center or the Carbon Valley Gymnastics Center. Must book in person. Exceptions cannot be made. Party times are on Saturdays at 1pm or 3pm $130 for up to 10 guests $8 each additional guest (up to 15 total)

This meal will be served at the Recreation Center every Thursday in the Multipurpose Room @ noon. ALL seniors 60 plus are welcome. There is a $3 suggested donation per meal. Any guest under 60 will be charged $10 for the cost of the meal. Meals are prepared by the UNC Dining Services and are nutritionally planned meeting 33 1/3% of recommended dietary intake. Facility & Conduct SCHOLARSHIPS Scholarships are available for applicable programs. See the front desk for a complete list of qualifying programs. Scholarship intake approval form can be obtained from the front desk. There will be a 2 week approval process. Approval is necessary prior to registration for any program, class or activity. Return completed forms 2 weeks prior to registration for any program, class or activity and are subject to approval. Scholarships are allotted for up $100 per person per calendar year at a rate of 25% off per activity. Scholarships cannot be combined with sales, Rec Bucks or other promotions. No refunds granted on scholarship accounts. REFUNDS A 10 % processing fee will be collected on all check refund requests. Requests for refunds will take up to 2 weeks to process depending on the timing of the refund request. Rental refund parties can cancel one week prior to scheduled date for full refund less 10% processing fee. LOST AND FOUND ITEMS The Carbon Valley Recreation Center is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. All personal items need to be left in a secured location. The Lost & Found is located at the front desk in the main building. All items will be held for 30 days. Items that are deemed of value (i.e. phones, jewelry, personal electronics, wallets, etc.), will immediately be recorded and placed in a safe location. EQUIPMENT CHECK-OUT An Equipment Check Out card must be purchased for $2.00 to check out facility gym equipment. Equipment card does not expire, equipment check out card and or membership card must be presented to check out equipment. Membership is not needed to purchase equipment check out card. Lost cards will be replaced for $2.00. EXCLUSIVE AFTER HOURS RENTAL Rental of the whole facility is $125/hr $150/hr per hour plus $10 per hour per Staff needed to be present during event. (lifeguards, Guest Service Lead, etc.) Price and hours of staff will be at the discretion of management and will be disclosed to the renter prior to renting the facility. Reservations for after hour parties may be made during the third and fourth weekends of the month, after hours rentals must be made 3 weeks prior to renting the facility desired to event date. Contact Guest Services or management to book your party. Payment of the facility and $100 damage deposit in a form of a check must be made before the party can be booked. FACILITY RENTAL All facility rentals and equipment usage are subject to the availability and prior approval. Setup, clean-up & proper supervision of participants are the responsibility of the renter. Rental accommodations can be made during regularly scheduled business hours, Damage deposit (check only) & full rental fee are due when reservation is made. There is $100 damage deposit (in form of check) is refundable on the day of party. If interested in renting, obtain a facility rental form from guest service. Rooms are for large groups or for gatherings, the lobby is for someone waiting or for snacking and relaxing, not an area available for parties. Celebrate our country’s 238th birthday with a family 5K fun run/walk through the streets of Dacono, Frederick and finish at Hart Park in Firestone for the 4th of Firestone Celebration. Friday - July 4th, 8am shotgun start at Clem Dufour Park in Dacono. New this year, the race is a Bolder Boulder qualifying race with chipped timing. Registration: Online at www.recdistrict.com or in person at the Rec Center located at 701 5th St. Frederick. Race day registration will be available from 7:15-7:45 at race start with additional $5 fee. Age Divisions: 10 yrs. & under boys & girls combined 14 yrs. & under boys & girls combined 15-19 yrs.
