MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR With summer right around the corner, Carbon Valley Park and Recreation District staff and I would like to express our gratitude to the CVPRD Board of Directors for their continued leadership, guidance, and service to the District. The following board members have served with a great deal of vision and moved the District forward by improving customer service, expanding programming, and demonstrating increased transparency with all District operations. Brenda Hall from the Town of Firestone and Mike Schiers from the Town of Frederick have served on the board for four years. Connie Marshall from the City of Dacono has completed 10 consecutive years of dedicated service to the District. Glen LaVanchy from the Town of Fredrick, along with Darrell Brunken from the City of Dacono, have demonstrated a sincere passion to the residents of the Carbon Valley Park and Recreation District. Lita Reser and board President Roger Wingerberg, both from the Town of Firestone, are examples of the strong commitment to the continued success of the District. Thank you for all you do!

AQUATICS PROGRAMS 100-Mile Swim Club
Looking for a way to stay motivated in your swim workout? Join the Carbon Valley 100-Mile Swim Club. Simply keep track of the laps you swim during each workout and record your mileage on the tracking sheets provided. When you reach 100 miles, you will receive a 100-mile T-shirt, bragging rights, and a chance to win a grand prize. The challenge started January 1, 2016 and ends December 31, 2016. New participants are welcome to join the club any time. How many laps is a mile? Length = One end of the pool to other (25 yards) Lap = Down and back (50 yards) 1 mile = 1,650 yards = approximately 66 lengths or 33 laps Goal = 100 miles = 165,000 yards or 3,300 laps How can you get to 100 miles? It’s as easy as: 2 miles a week equals 100 miles in about 50 weeks 3 miles a week equals 100 miles in about 33 weeks 1 mile a day, 5 days a week, equals 100 miles in 20 weeks A lap of kicking counts as a lap of swimming, so grab a kickboard and change it up a little bit! Use fins, paddles, and pull buoys during your workout to make your swim more interesting. Break up your workout into smaller ones and change your strokes as you go.
