ART SPOTLIGHT 1

AGGIE SEARCH
“Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”
- Steve Jobs

GET TO KNOW YOUR ARTIST

My name is Aggie Search and I am a Freshman at Circleville High School. I play soccer, cross country, swimming, and track. This year I took Art 1- as many Freshman do- but I also took a painting and drawing course in Art 2. Last year I was awarded the Deb by Jones Award for an Outstanding 8th grader. At the Ohio State Fair last summer I got an Outstanding of the Day award for my work in the 4-H project Woodworking. I participated in the Partners in Care, Partners in Hope award art contest early this school year. I am excited to continue my art journey at Circleville High School with Mrs. Grady!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF ART?

My favorite part of art is how relaxing it is just to let go and make art. I also love the fact that I can make people happy with art. When I paint or draw it’s just fun to let loose on a piece of paper and make something amazing. I also enjoy it when I make a drawing for someone and they like it.

IN WHAT WAYS DO YOU THINK YOUR ART INFLUENCES OTHERS?

I think my art inspires others to be more creative. When I show people art that I’m proud of sometimes they say how it inspires them to make something similar and start drawing. It makes me happy to see people interested in something I love!

WHAT INSPIRES YOUR ART?

Shows and movies that I like and other peoples’ artworks inspire me to try and make something great. The people I love in my life also inspire me; they make me want to do well and never give up on anything I’m trying to achieve. That’s what always pushes me to keep going!

My favorite definitely has to be my newest self portrait, I’d say my style is very emotional and maybe a little edgy.

SENIOR ARTIST

Knoles Adara

“An artist can show things that other people are terrified of expressing” - Louise Bourgeois

My favorite art piece would probably be my academic burnout piece. I loved being able to burn the edges of the paper and collaging them on. My art style is very abstract and very messy at times.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

“Every artist dips his brush in his soul and paints his own nature into his paintings” - Henry Ward Beecher

My favorite art pieces shark song the collaged piece because were fun to have more than the other

favorite pieces are the piece and collaged girlhood because they create and more add-ons other pieces.

REEGAN EVANS

Reegan would describe her art style as nonfiguritive and impressionist since her linework is so loose and her art is typically full of character!

Art Club has continued to grow over the last 7 years in both students and creativity. This club gives students a safe place to express themselves and build community. Students are able to work with all mediums on projects of their choice to build skills and confidence. Anyone is able to join with a small fee of $20.00 to cover supplies. They meet Mondays after school until 4pm.

Ali and Addison are two talented sophomores working on bowls for Bowls For The Hungry, a project NAHS and Mr. Linthicum’s culinary class have combined together to raise money for the people in need.

“My favorite thing about art clubs is the amount of freedom we have with our art and projects and how we can not only help express ourselves but also help within the community.”

“I think that everyone in Art Club is so creative and kind, and everyone is very helpful. The bowls that I were making are going to be sold to teachers and all of the proceeds go to people in our community that are food deprived.”

“Art Club allows me to be authentically me and create what I desire.”

Victoria is also a sophomore working with clay. She decided to use her art club time to finish her coil pot assignment for sculpture class!

Monochromatic:

A color scheme that is based on a single color or hue.

District Office Murals

At the end of May, Morgan Pence approached Mrs. Grady about doing a mural. They went to meet with Dr. Halle to start a Mural that was mentioned the previous year. It was going to be a huge project and Morgan needed some help, so she asked Ava Murphy to join in on the project. From there, they started sketches for the murals. They met with

Dr. Halle in June to discuss and order the canvases. In July, Ava and Morgan took 2 of the 6 canvases home to begin painting. The murals weren’t finished until the middle of December. After a lot of trials, errors, and collaboration the murals are finally hanging up in the District Office!

Community Winter Art

Through out the year many students went around town and did mural paintings for different place.

What are Spring colors? A Spring seasonal color palette is full of warm and bright shades like poppy red, daffodil yellow, and tangerine orange. Some of the neutral Spring colors are ivory, cream, camel, and clearer browns. Spring clothing colors are happy, joyful colors!

I loved helping the little girls grow over just a few hours.

Seeing where they were from the beginning to the end was an amazing change. I loved doing the stunt at the end and listening to the crowd when the little girls went up.

2024 is the year of making you a priority. Self care is a must for bettering your mental health. Using some of these products can help you feel good on the outside, which in turn makes you feel good on the inside. Taking time for you can make such a difference.

Dear,

CANDYGRAMS

This February, the students in the National Art Honors Society once again hosted a round of Candygrams, sweet messages filled with sweets, for the high school staff and students.

Those buying candygrams could buy them for one dollar each, and write a message on the inside to be delivered, along with a piece of candy, to the student or staff member of their choice.

While some opted for the sweeter messages or messages of thanks, others opted for a funnier approach to the messages, or an entirely creative one, adding valentines-related drawings to the inside of their messages.

Thank you to everyone who bought a Candygram and supported the art program at CHS!

Evaluate what elements of your life are no longer fruitful and affirmative. Change is the only constant, the more you build your strength, the more your resilience of spirit will serve you for whatever challenges come your way.

Use creativity to get the reset that comes with solitude—even when you’re surrounded by people. Practices like breathwork and meditation can be helpful right now so you don’t overburden your nervous system.
