Multiple Multiples Let’s investigate

Ask your teacher for a copy of the Multiples of 2, 3, 4 and 5 sheet. Look at the key at the top of the sheet.

Choose four different colouring pencils. Colour the top quarter of the box if the number is a multiple of 2.

Colour one set of multiples at a time.

Colour the bottom quarter of the box if the number is a multiple of 5.

Colour the left hand quarter if the number is a multiple of 3 and colour the right hand quarter if the number is a multiple of 4. When you have finished, answer these questions. (a) Which numbers have two colours? Why?

Write the multiplication facts for these numbers and use the equals sign to write paired facts with the same total. (b) Which numbers have three colours? Why?

Write paired multiplication facts for four of these numbers. (c) Which numbers have four colours? Why? Write paired multiplication facts for each of these numbers. Practise counting in threes and fours so that you begin to learn those times tables.
