Classes are often held at the teacher’s home whose salary is paid for by the Foundation. Students do not pay any fees and books are provided with mats or benches to sit on.

The Maria-Helena Foundation has helped reconstruct a school demolished by the 2005 earthquake and replaced one washed away during the 2010 floods. This ensures children can continue their education even after a natural disaster has struck. The following quote is from the Foundation’s website: ‘Poverty and ignorance are at the root of many of Pakistan’s problems.
