Meeting Highlights May 8, 2025

OPENING REMARKS

Terrance provided an overview of the Council’s history, its mission and vision.

He spoke about the thriving partnership with CUNY SPS ILS

The NYCTC Executive Board members were reintroduced, and new members were welcomed to their first meeting. Special mention to the Membership & Engagement committee for the extraordinary turnout.

OPENING REMARKS

Executive Director, CUNY School of Professional Studies (SPS), Office of Innovative Learning Solutions (ILS)

Amy highlighted CUNY SPS ILS partnerships with various city and state agencies listed:

*ACS *DCAS *DOC *DSS *DYCD *OEM *HRA

*Mayor’s Office of Community Mental Health

*Mayor’s Office of Economic Opportunity

*NYS Office of Children and Family Services

She also provided an overview of CUNY SPS ILS role in providing employers customized learning programs for their workforce.

TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE UPDATE

Carolina Kim de Salamanca, Committee Chair (OTI)

 A test group was established and sites launched.

 Leads for three initiatives were created: Enrollment, Teams, and SharePoint.

 Open call for additional members to join the committee and be a part of a testing group before launch. Development to Production Schedule

MEMBERSHIP & ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE UPDATE

 An email blast was sent to training & development leads/professionals, and career counselors citywide

 A LinkedIn page in now active and adding new members

 An invitation flyer was blasted citywide to recruit new members

 Discussed hosting virtual meeting(s) to engage with those unable to attend inperson

 The first social event on June 4th was well attended.

 More after-work events coming soon.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE UPDATE

Anyone interested in helping City L&D professionals grow their skill set may join this committee.

PRESENTATION:

 The Chatbot was developed to reinforce Transfer Of Learning - bridging the gap between the training and realworld application by supporting learners exactly when they need help on the job.

 The Chatbot serves as a searchable resource guide and supports learners in applying concepts to real-world challenges

 Unlike generic AI tool, this chatbot delivers tailored, context-specific answers, grounded in our own program content.

 All interactions are tracked and logged, allowing us to identify learning trends and areas where learners may need more support.

 The tool is highly cost-effective, built internally for under $5, and scalable to large audiences for less than $0.02 per

Each Career Counselor provided their perspective on the following topics:

o Career journey to newly created role.

o Experience with resources provided by DCAS in preparing for the new role.

o Initial experience with their respective agency getting acclimated with the job tasks.

o What tools and resources are needed to support this new role.

They also discussed the rewards and challenges thus far as they navigate this new citywide initiative at their respective agencies.
