Athletic Trainers are the front-line professionals dealing specifically with the active patient population as well as patients within other areas as needed The program consists of various academic and clinical education experiences Not only will athletic training students be exposed to numerous academic challenges, but as a part of the clinical experiences, will also receive professional hands-on experience with Cumberland University Athletics, area physical therapy clinics, area high schools, and other clinical sites affiliated with the MSAT program

Athletic Trainers are healthcare providers that have career opportunities in the following settings: intercollegiate athletics, secondary schools, professional sports, physicians offices, public safety and military, occupational and industrial settings, and performing arts

The athletic training program is 61 credit hours [fall (14cr), spring (15cr), summer (8cr), fall (12cr), spring (12cr)] that requires continuous enrollment Students will gain the knowledge and practical experience needed to prepare for a career as an athletic trainer There are two track options for enrollment. Track one is for those who do not have a baccalaureate degree. Track two is for those who have a baccalaureate degree and meet the prerequisites

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor’s degree (regionally accredited university) with a minimum
in previous Master’s programs
Complete application through ATCAS
Immunizations
Official transcripts sent from all previously attended colleges and universities
Three letters of recommendation
Interview with the selection committee
75 hours of clinical observation
Criminal background check (annually)
Pass a 7-panel drug test (annually)
Proof of personal health insurance (annually)
BLS Certification (must maintain)
Membership in the National Athletic Training Association
