Activity Overview

This live educational activity will address critical knowledge gaps in the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions, focusing on advancements in surgical and rehabilitative care. Learners will gain a deeper understanding of when to pursue surgical versus non-operative management of rotator cuff tears, strategies for treating recurrent shoulder instability, and the appropriate indications for shoulder arthroplasty, including selecting the most suitable type Additionally, the course will explore the increasing role of elbow replacement for distal humerus fractures, clarifying when fixation or replacement is the preferred approach Through expert-led instruction, participants will enhance their ability to assess bone loss on the glenoid and humeral head, stay up to date with evolving surgical techniques, and ultimately improve their clinical decisionmaking and patient outcomes in orthopedic practice.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for an audience of physicians and APP’s who are involved in patient care for shoulder and elbow injuries. The objective of this course is to educate participants on the best methods of managing patients with injuries of the upper extremity, specifically shoulder and elbow.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:

Assess patients with shoulder and elbow arthritis and develop appropriate treatment strategy based on the severity of their disease

Develop an algorithm for treatment of shoulder instability in the athlete that involves both operative and non-operative management

Assess traumatic conditions of the elbow and appropriately recommend treatment for these conditions.
