Sara Tonin - Model - Manchester www.facebook.com/SarahTonin.SaraBellisio Manchester UK based Sarah Tonin is an alternative model. With over six years experience in front of the lens, she's an accomplished face in the industry. So how did Sarah get her foot through the door? Back in 2008, a local magazine hunted Sarah down through her social media, reaching out to propose some adult work. Initially skeptical, Sarah did her homework and eventually decided the arts and culture direction would serve as a great professional springboard. One nude photoshoot - shot around major city landmarks - later and the rest was history. “I did a nude shoot in the middle of Manchester on a freezing cold October afternoon in front of the Town Hall, the Urbis and the Printworks, with loads of members of the public watching and taking photos on their phones. Somehow, we managed not to get arrested! After that shoot, I never looked back.

Realising a passion in the alternative scene, Sarah explored the world of Burlesque and embarked on a short course. Although she decided not to pursue the genre, it did open more doors and expand her network, ultimately linking Sarah up with modelling groups and photographers whom she'd later collaborate with. Sarah's portfolio is as colourful as the outfits she regularly dons for alternative fashion brands. She's keen not to rule out any type of assignment, and includes fancy dress, glamour and wig Gil Meir modelling alongside more specialised adult interests such as bondage, Dael sploshing and latex. Camp The alternative niche has brought bell Sarah

ample exciting opportunities, such as sponsorships, working with boutique independent brands: Wonderland Awaits, Sisters of the Moon Designs and The Red Queen Boutique. Her modelling cv boasts a substantial list of clientelle, speaking volumes of her impact within the scene.

“As an alternative model, I appeal more to smaller brands, and I’m cool with that.”

Sarah understands what it takes to be a good model. “Being able to take direction well, but also being able to model without direction and improvise. Versatility, adaptability, creativity and being hard-working are also important.”

Prepping for such work requires much time and monetry investment on Sarah's part. Before every shoot she re-colours her hair for optimum vibrancy, and she researches make up techniques and effects prior to the day. “Sometimes I plan the makeup weeks in advance if it's an elaborate design.”

Sarah enjoys every aspect each modelling gig entails, and when asked about her favourite shoot of all time, the answer is unsurprising for a self professed peacock: “A bodypaint shoot I did last year with Rowena Fiaba Photography and Liz Barnes was amazing! I was painted as a sort-of demon with a pair of horns, which was staged in the window of a hairdresser's for publicity. It was a lot of fun scaring people by standing still and suddenly moving! I'm an exhibitionist - can you tell?!”

Jonathan Alter Behind every good model is a legion of solid supporters, and Sarah certainly has that:

“My friends are very supportive and my parents are really proud of me. When I’m featured in a magazine, my parents always buy a copy (they’ll definitely be buying this magazine!) They have a big box of magazines I’ve been featured in and print-outs of websites I’ve been featured on.”

For anyone interested in seeing what Sarah has been up to on the small screen, check out her tv debut on Channel 4's Cucumber series, where she appears in episodes 7 and 8. With more nearfuture screen time to add to her credentials, you'd be wise to keep an eye out for this rainbow hair.

Hi Kat! Tell us, how did you get into modelling? I have been modelling for nearly a year now. I have always been interested in modelling and photography. My 2 young children are registered with a modelling agency and I have taken photos for their portfolios. After getting several comments about how I should pursue modelling myself this made me keen to pursue my interest further so I registered with purpleport and began developing my portfolio. What types of modelling do you do? I have done many types of modelling including lingerie, glamour, fashion, catwalk, pin-up, body parts, body paint, beauty, alternative, though my favourite genre is fashion. Have you modelled for any well known brands or names? I haven't as yet modelled for any famous brands or names but this is something I would really like to do to further my career. I have however modelled for an Omani fashion designer and been published in Oman. Do you prefer working on location or in a studio? I do enjoy location shoots but I have to admit I slightly prefer working in the studio as working in the studio can be done in all weather and seasons. What do your friends and family think of you being a model? My family and friends are very supportive of me and my modelling and I get good feedback and comments on the photos. What is the furthest place you have travelled for a shoot? Bradford is the furthest I have travelled for a shoot so far but I don't mind travelling further for the right work. What preparations do you do before a shoot? It really depends on the type of shoot and what the photographer is wanting. In some cases I have done very little (e.g. full body paint modelling) right through to researching styles and outfits and doing full hair and makeup preparations for fashion shows and catwalk. I have also attended practices, hair and makeup trials and dress rehearsals before the day. What do you think makes a good model? A good model needs to be dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic about modelling, as well as being responsive, unique and professional. A good model must also feel comfortable in front of the camera and know how to work their body to take great pictures and have a good attitude and personality. What's your all足time favourite shoot? Hmmm this is a hard question, I don't really have a favourite as I enjoy doing all my shoots but the one that stands out is an Omani fashion shoot I did in Sheffield - the outfits and pictures were great and the view of Sheffield on the day of the shoot was amazing plus this shoot opened up more modelling work opportunities for me with the designer. Who is your favourite fashion designer and why? My favourite designer is Christian Louboutin. I have a soft spot for his shoes!

Rebecca Scott - Model/Actress - Northumberland bit.ly/rebeccascottactress - RebeccaCJScott@gmail.com

Heard of Game of Thrones? If not, where have you been?!

Already in its 5th season, Game of Thrones returned to the small screen this Spring. Amidst the warring families fighting for control of the iron throne, a certain model saw her terrestrial television debut become a reality. Episode 3, aired Monday 27 April 9pm, Sky Atlantic - watch it on demand and see if you can spot Rebecca's Westeros character.

Rebecca Scott is a Northumberland UK based model who has had an interest in acting from a young age. As an aspiring actor she would get her mum to sign her up to dance lessons and take her to auditions, which led her to starring roles in drama school productions and theatre. As a young adult she has since been cast as the lead role in several independent films, including an educational film for Scottish secondary schools. Rebecca is also a published model and has graced the pages of several magazines and newspapers, both locally and naitonally, and she has modelled live on the catwalk for Clothes Show Live.

Rebecca wants to say a personal "thank you" to her mum for all the support and encouragement she has given, without which Rebecca would not be where she is today. One thing Rebecca was worried about was the nature of her role in Game of Thrones, but all her friends and family are over the moon with her big break.

Game of Thrones - The Big Break

After a simple application following an open casting, Rebecca got that call everyone wants to get: she was actually cast in Game of Thrones with a featured role. Like anyone hearing such great news she cried tears of joy. Rebecca said:

"I loved every second of Game of Thrones, I really did. It felt amazing, I loved being on set and seeing the behind the scenes. I loved meeting everyone there, they are a great bunch of people and a serious credit to Game of Thrones. I have never met a friendlier bunch and I felt right at home straight away! I can't even begin to tell you how lovely everyone is at Game of Thrones and everyone involved was really professional, respectful and lovely. I got to know a few people who I still chat to sometimes, everyone was great really. As for millions of people seeing me on screen, I am okay with that. "

Unsurprisingly, she can't wait to get that call casting her back into Game of Thrones - we say to HBO, get calling already!

Great Yarmouth - a True Inspiration

You don’t see someone wearing an ice cream sundae on their head or clothing made of newspaper every day. So what led to this unusual outfit? Its creator makeup artist Helen Todd explains:

“My two main passions in life are makeup and travel. I like to combine the two and design makeups that capture the essence of the particular country I'm in. This particular shoot is based upon my home town of Great Yarmouth. Every detail from the ice cream headpiece to the newspaper dress was designed to capture the 'fun' aspect of a seaside town.”

Molly Robbo, Dancer & Model, bravely modelled for this shoot not only indoors but also on the Yarmouth sea front. Needless to say, it drew quite a lot of attention! Kirsty’s Cakery also kindly allowed their shop to be used as an additional location. Customers enjoyed some free, if somewhat unusual, entertainment alongside their afternoon tea.
