Ratatouille is a bright and chunky summer vegetable stew, rich with olive oil and fragrant with garlic and herbs.
Servings: 8 (Makes about 7 cups)
Prep Time: 30 Minutes
Cook Time: 45 Minutes
Total Time: 1 Hour 15 Minutes
90 MGS of Infused Olive oil
INGREDIENTS
• 1 large (1¼ lbs) eggplant, cut into ⅓-inch cubes
• Salt
• 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, plus more for serving
• 3 tablespoons of Chef Matt’s infused Olive oil = 90mgs
• 2 medium zucchini (about 1 lb), cut into ⅓-inch cubes
• 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
• 1 red, orange or yellow bell pepper, cut into
¼-inch dice
• 5 large cloves garlic, chopped
• 5 large vine-ripened tomatoes (1¾ lbs), cut into
⅓-inch cubes, with their juices
• 1 tablespoon tomato paste
RATATOULLIE CHEF MATT’S
• 2 teaspoons fresh chopped thyme, plus more for serving
• ¾ teaspoon sugar
• ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
• 3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
INSTRUCTIONS
• Heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a large nonstick pan over medium heat. Add the eggplant and season with ¼ teaspoon salt. Cook, stirring frequently, until soft and starting to brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
• Add another tablespoon of oil to the pan (no need to clean it). Add the zucchini and cook, stirring frequently, until tender-crisp, 3 to 4 minutes. Season with ¼ teaspoon salt and transfer to a plate; set aside.
• Add 6 tablespoons of Chef Matt’s infused Olive oil to the pan and add the onion and bell pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and continue cooking for about 3 minutes more. Do not brown. Add the tomatoes and their juices, tomato paste, thyme, sugar, crushed red pepper flakes (if using) and ¾ teaspoon salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until
the tomatoes are broken down into a sauce, 8 to 10 minutes. Add the cooked eggplant to the pan; bring to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low, and simmer, uncovered, for about 10 minutes or until the eggplant is soft. Add the zucchini and cook for 1 to 2 minutes more, or until just warmed through. Taste and adjust seasoning, if necessary. Sprinkle with fresh basil and thyme, drizzle with a little olive oil if desired, and serve warm or chilled. I like to serve it on Bruschetta for parties. Tell us a little about yourself and how you got into the Cannabis industry.
I was a real estate investor for 22 years previous to getting involved in Cannabis. I didn’t know much about Cannabis personally other than I started to suspect it had medical value, based on experiences with different people I highly respected, who used cannabis for cancer, back pain, and other life issues. I had thoughts that it would be fascinating to be involved in forefront of the legal cannabis industry.
How did you come up with the name Bear Flag?
We bought the name from the previous owners. We love the branding as it represents California and the best cannabis grown anywhere in the world. California and cannabis go hand in hand and we love that our brand represents that and it would be recognized anywhere we use it and our logo.
What are some of the challenges you’ve faced as a company doing business here in California?
The restrictive taxes hurts the legal cannabis market. The government
has to decide how to fix this. They either need to really enforce the laws to convert the traditional market to the legal market just like they did alcohol through enforcing tax evasion, operating without a license, etc.
When it comes to the quality of the services you offer, what sets you apart from other brands?
We bring the greatest value and we do what we say we will do. We refuse to race to the bottom on pricing. We are fair and profitable allowing you as a brand to be profitable. We will never be the cheapest, nor the most expensive. We will give great value, high quality at the fastest speed one can create that value. We seek to do that everyday imperfectly marching forward. Another of our core values is, “We are Authentic and transparent with kindness.”
When a company/individual is interested in working with you, what should they be aware of to have ready to get the ball rolling?
Design your products and packaging for profit. Many people don’t understand that every touch and extra you add increases the manufacturing cost.

When helping get products into retail, what are some of the criteria that need to be met?
Don’t fight humanity. We sell what people buy. If you have to educate the budtender, the patient, and the buyer on your product be ready to invest a lot of money and time in marketing. It could take years to build it. Not saying not to do it. Always be in the path of progress.
Who else is apart of the Bear Flag family?
Ramona Cannabis Company in Ramona California, Kyle Turley former NFL player and bigger cannabis advocate. Our clients. We have great Vendors and clients like Gelato, Eaze, Governor’s cut, Sipkoi, Sesh, 7 Points, Dime, Royal Highness, Torrey Holistics, Klover, Hotbox, Happy Travels is a great collaborative partner, Smyle, etc I feel like we will leave one out and it’s unintended.
Where do you see Bear Flag in the next 5 years?
We will have built a 10,000 sq ft. kitchen and we intend to open 24 dispensaries in Southern California. We are excited to really push the Bear Flag Brand and our in-house brands

that will be forthcoming. Our goal is to fill the stores with our own brands and brands we manufacture for adding huge value to those brands we manufacture for. I love our relationships in the industry. Overtime we have been able to find the best of the best doing good honest business. We’ve just finalized a business plan for these expansion and will be raising capital to execute these goals and grow our business.

First off I must say the process is a lot harder when you’re a smaller brand, its like being that new kid on the block type feeling. towards other more funded brands, this is straight cut throat. I can get deep into this but I guess a more private interview will have to doo.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO START FINANCIAL FRIDAYS ON THE CT101 NETWORK?
First off I wanted to thank you and the entire CT101 family who has made me feel at home. There’s lots of history here at CT101 and I don’t take it for granted that I’ve been brought on board to host my own show. The CT101 audience is a highly educated and loyal audience, so I know the bar is set high and I intend on delivering.
After over a 20 year career on WallStreet, my world got flipped upside down when I lost everything to my former business partner who defrauded investors for over 12 million dollars. I helped put him in prison, and dealt with the trauma of that for years after. I walked away from WallStreet and took a life time ban so that I could share my story from stage and on platforms like CT101. From that point on my mission has been to expose the dirty side, of being on the inside.
WHAT CAN LISTENERS EXPECT FROM THE SHOW?
I think wealth can be defined and acquired in different manners. For example one of my Rules of Money
is that with out your health you won’t have wealth. You can’t be truly wealthy if you’re not healthy. That’s why I invited one of my good friends and my own Doc, Dr. Chalmers to be one of my first guests and regular guest of the show. One of the biggest pieces of advice I give to anyone is to get right with your body and mental health. As you get older in life those are the things that money can no longer buy or fix. My hope for the show is that I bring on compelling guests that can leave the audience more empowered and wealthier in knowledge about the things that matter. The 3 F’s Family. Fitness. Finances.
OVERCOMING PERSONAL TRAUMA AND FINANCIAL SETBACK IS NO JOKE! WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU HOPE YOUR SHOW CONVEYS TO ANYONE WHO MAY BE FACING SIMILAR CHALLENGES.
That’s tough to answer in such a limited format. First make sure that you keep good people around you who won’t allow you to quit. Mental health is a topic that is very close to my heart. There were moments where I was in a very dark place and having very destructive behavior. One of my first mentors Ryan Stewman had a
personal development networking mastermind I became a part of called Apex. I’m still a member today. That single decision changed the trajectory of my life forever, and quite frankly probably saved my life. I just made the decision one day that I was going to become the best version of me that I could be. The first step was to surround myself with winners who would hold me accountable. From that day I put in the work. It’s not overnight. But no success ever is.

You are living alone in a dark, lonely apartment in California. You cannot sleep. After three hours of lying in bed you finally doze off, with the TV on as background noise. Once your eyes close, you are back in a firefight, the flash of bullets flying by you and your unit. You hear screams of fallen friends and enemies. Your best friend, you met at basic training screams “Incoming!!!” You dive to the ground, and all goes dark. You awake, shaking and in a pool of sweat. The room is still dark, and you are still alone in your apartment. A typical morning follows, low on sleep you brew some coffee and wonder what is going to fill your day. You sit on the couch and watch the local news, wondering if anyone out there knows what you are going through.
WHERE CAN YOU FIND HELP AND HOPE?
Battle Brothers Foundation was conceptualized by Bryan Buckley, USMC(ret). Bryan, a Special Operations Marine Raider, fought in Iraq, Africa, Southeast and Afghanistan. When Bryan Left active service, he was designated 100% disabled by the Veterans Health Administration (VA). Bryan soon discovered the quality of care and compassion provided to soldiers to heal their physical wounds is significantly greater than the attention given to them for mental, emotional, and psychological injuries that accompanied he and others home. Bryan realized early on that if this disparity was not addressed, the already alarming rate of veteran suicides and drug addiction would continue to grow. His solution was to form and serve for the Battle Brothers Foundation.

There is a complex challenge facing our nation’s veterans: a striking number are taking their lives, the medical care offered through standard treatment facilities are often addictive, opiate-based substances, and many find themselves stagnated from impactful community and meaningful economic growth. PERSONAL SUPPORT
Battle Brothers Foundation believes both individual and community-based mentorship programs are pillars for personal development and growth. The transition from military service to civilian life is more than just a change in occupation; this challenge subjects our veterans to a complete and utter cultural change. The current resources designed to aid veterans in transition provide only minimal guidance toward obtaining success, which oftentimes leads to struggles in searching for a new sense of direction, purpose, and identity. These issues can ultimately lead to self-induced isolation that is detrimental to veteran success upon transition. The Battle Brothers Foundation will aid transitioning veterans by pairing them with mentors who possess similar aspirations in order to help them reach their full potential in finding a new sense of direction, purpose, and identity, while simultaneously bridging the gap between individuals and community outreach programs by forging interdependent relationships within local communities to further prevent isolation.
MEDICAL SUPPORT
With opiates remaining the most prevalent treatment for the physical and mental ailments derived from military combat, our veterans who are prescribed these medications are at an immediate disadvantage, due to the detrimental side effects of these drugs. Between 2010 and 2015, there was a 55% increase in the number of veterans addicted to opioids. There was a 41.1% in veteran suicides between 2015-2021, seventeen veterans commit suicide each day.
The Battle Brothers Foundation actively supports non-opiate-based methodologies to treat PTSD and chronic pain endured in combat. With the help of top-tier doctors, scientists, and research institutions, we are committed to find viable alter -
natives, besides opiates, to treat the physical and mental repercussions from combat. BBF also has strategic partners that will help veterans through addiction centers, rehabilitation facilities and mentors to help veterans fight their addictions and live a sober life.
ECONOMIC SUPPORT
In boot camp, they took everything away; right down to our hair. They built us faster, stronger, more resolved. They gave us purpose and vision. Taught us skills and methods to stay alive and to protect the lives of those around us. We were shown what honor looks like; what courage means. We walked out through the gates after graduation and into a family, a brotherhood, a purpose. We were given titles, responsibilities. We were presented with our uniforms, an unmistakable symbol known the world over as the uniform of an American Marine, Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Coastie, or Guardian. We were set up for success.
Battle Brothers Foundation provides the same guidance to our veterans transitioning back to civilian life. Upon leaving active-duty service, veterans possess skills that are admired by many employers, however, there is a need to sharpen these skills as they pertain to specific work environments. The Battle Brothers Foundation is partnered with veteran-based organizations who provide employment opportunities in security, agriculture, and pharmaceutical sectors of the American industry. These organizations help veterans apply their strong moral principles and leadership skills to

Speedy Weedy started in the lower level basement garage of my used car dealership. Everyone was doing storefronts and it was too risky at that time, so we had a bunch of cars (mostly sports cars) and decided I can merge the two businesses and create a cannabis delivery service. The name speedy weedy just popped into my head because I wanted to be the fastest delivery service and it rhymed with weed(y) so I went for it.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE CHALLENGES YOU’VE FACED AS A CANNABIS COMPANY DOING BUSINESS HERE IN CALIFORNIA?
The regulations: everything is much more restricted and costly with a delivery service. They require gps units live on every vehicle, time restraints, and some other rules that don’t even make sense and hinder our ability to do better and reach more customers. No other industry has the restrictions we do and its destroying the market especially when we have to compete with the black market that follows no dcc guidelines.

We have one of if not the

This summer, Cannabis Talk 101 made the trip over to Bangkok and Koh Samui with our international development liaison, Mary Szomjassy to talk with local industry players, both big and small about how things have evolved since she was there consulting for their recreational legalization initiative in 2020. It’s been a fast paced, politically
driven journey filled with many twists and turns and certainly more to come.
It started in 2018, when Thailand became the first Southeast Asian nation to legalize medical cannabis. The Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allowed patients suffering from qualifying conditions, such as chronic pain, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis, access to medical cannabis through licensed clinics and hospitals. This fostered change in public perception and acceptance.
The only problem, is that there was limited supply of high quality products and formualtions. Additionally, as in many countries, even the medical professionals didn’t understand how to implement protocols with the plant.
Fast forward to 2023 where there is a cannabis shop on every other corner and very few abide by the below .2% THC rule. Full legalization has created a wide gray area for all to enter, but product is still limited in relation to demand. It’s obvious that
there is a strong US influence as one can easily find strains like Wedding Cake, Gorilla Glue, and Cherry Pie in almost any store. Open containers of weed allow customers to smell the goods first, and you can even smoke right on site in many places after purchasing. Some owners will even supply you with a rig to use or share a toke with you. It’s a far cry from US retail shops.
What’s more, is the abundance of restaurants attached to shops that serve

infused food. Many allow patrons to light up while waiting for their meal and getting lost in picturesque views.
This relaxed environment has attracted both local and international investors, bolstering Thailand’s reputation as a cannabis-friendly destination. It has hosted cannabis enthusiasts and entrepreneurs from around the world creating cannabis-themed tours, hotels, wellness retreats, and educational programs. All which have contributed to the country’s tourism revenue with strong foundations.
One of the best examples of cannabis tourism done right, and the newest member of the Cannabis Talk family is Bryan Lunt. He is a resident of 20 years and owner/operator of Thailand’s first licensed cannabis hotel The Beach Samui, Sabai Sabai. Bryan has taken the concept of cannabis hospitality to a whole new level with cannabis room service, infused gourmet meals and curated cannabis spa offerings for his guests. Introducing the Skinny Queen, the soon-to-be reigning queen of the Skinny!
Why the name, you ask?
Well, in the realm of cannabis meets health and wellness, the Skinny Queen has found her loyal following. Her mission? Empowering people to take charge of their lives through health and wellness!
But where did the Skinny Queen’s journey begin? As a child, she always knew she didn’t quite fit into her birthplace. Losing her mother at a young age turned her world upside down. She grew up on a dirt road and her father still lives in the house she was raised in. She still remembers her father saying to her as a child, “If I don’t hunt we don’t eat!” and lived a “poor life”. Because of losing her
mother at the age of 12 from suicide, it pushed her to be a young adult at a very young age! She learned a lot from the streets and the backwoods on how to survive and let’s the world know that she “wasn’t blessed with a silver spoon in [her] mouth.”
Jenae, soon to be called the SkinnyQueen, found beauty amidst the hardships. It was during this time that she embarked upon a mission to find herself and her passion for cannabis. She lets the world know that, “When you learn everything the hard way, it takes you down a path that makes it challenging to succeed,” but that she knew in her “heart that [she] was destined to do bigger things then just be a small town girl!”
When did the Skinny Queen discover her passion? It all started with a case of the munchies. One evening after a couple of THC edibles, she ate everything in sight and ended up feeling sick in both body and mind. Seeking a healthier alternative, she came up with an idea for SKINNYweed because she believed that cannabis didn’t have to mean overeating, as she says, “Nothing tastes as good as SKINNYweed® feels.”

I originally got “BabyThumpy” from a cute nickname a friend of mine helped me think of “Thumper” which I used to rebrand myself when I became a Suicide Girl in 2019. Later another friend of mine started calling me her “little BabyThumpy” and it was too cute to pass up the opportunity to use that. Once I started going by BabyThumpy it stood out and made people remember my name and who I am and I just loved how unique it is. It truly has become a whole new side of me.
I got into the cannabis community within the last few years with a desire to find a niche within modeling that I felt I could really be passionate about. I’ve smoked for years as purely a consumer but being able to represent brands and companies that bring so much fun, knowledge, and opportunity to meet likeminded individuals to the table is what really drew me in.
