JULY 1, 2020 TO JUNE 30, 2021 IMPACT REPORT
THE MONTE AHUJA COLLEGE OF BUSINESS’S CENTERS FOR OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT are proud to play a critical role in advancing the college’s mission to support the Northeast Ohio business community by creating and advancing business-ready talent, impactful business knowledge, and foundational community engagement.
The Carnegie Foundation defines Community Engagement as the collaboration between institutions of higher education and their larger communities (local, regional/state, national, global) for the mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity.
The AACSB standards include outreach and engagement as an integral part of the accreditation process. A dedicated journal, The Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement (JHEOE), serves as the premier peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal to advance theory and practice related to all forms of outreach and engagement between higher education institutions and communities.
The Centers for Outreach and Engagement were launched almost 20 years ago with the distinct purpose of enhancing the world of business practice and serving as a resource for regional economic development. Today, the Centers for Outreach and Engagement have grown to include the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, home to the Weston Ideation Lab and the Small Business Development Center; Global Business Center and the Export Assistance Network, and the Professional Development Center. Each of these Centers are aligned to the strategic mission of the College and the University and are dedicated to:
• Assisting business and industry with training and other relevant services
• Generating discretionary financial resources for the college and new innovative programming
• Partnering with faculty on applied research, training, and consulting opportunities
• Building brand recognition for the College
• Enhancing student development by providing opportunities to apply what they learn in the classroom through action learning labs
Over the past year, The Centers have generated $189,426 in revenue and $531,342 in gifts, grants and sponsorships. We are excited to share our stories, achievements, and knowledge generated in this 2021 Impact Report. Please explore our the following pages to learn how the Monte Ahuja College of Business’ Centers for Outreach and Engagement are addressing economic and workforce needs through relevant lifelong learning, impactful applied research, and meaningful engagement in our community.
We are especially proud of our ability to adapt how we serve our community throughout the pandemic.
Happy Holidays!
