1 in 5 buyers make offer without seeing home Twenty-one percent of more than 2,100 home buyers recently surveyed by real estate brokerage Redfin say they made an offer on a house without seeing it in person. "That's a testament to the proliferation of online listings, mobile real estate apps, and cool things like 3D scans that take you inside and through every room of a home for sale online," according to a blog on SurveyMonkey, a surveying firm that conducted the survey on behalf of Redfin. Millennials were the age group to be most likely to make an offer without seeing the house in person first at 30 percent. What's more, 53 percent of buyers who paid more than $750,000 for their home made offers without seeing the house first.

WINNERS OF THE 2015 PARADE OF HOMES ANNOUNCED! The Housing & Building Association of Colorado Springs (HBA) announced the winners of the People’s Choice Awards and the Industry Awards of Excellence for the 2015 Parade of Homes. This year’s featured homes ranged in price from less than $150,000 to almost $1,700,000. Twenty-four builders presented 32 homes dispersed among 21 communities for the 61st Annual Parade of Homes. Industry professionals from around the state judged the homes on a number of features including landscape design, floor plan, architectural exte-
rior, and interior decorating. The coveted People’s Choice Awards is voted on each year by Parade of Homes attendees. The People’s Choice and Industry Awards of Excellence are both broken out into multiple categories divided by price point. Industry Awards of Excellence are then further divided among the following eight categories: Best Kitchen, Best Master Suite, Best Interior Design, Best Exterior, Best Landscape Design, Best Architectural Exterior, Best Craftsmanship and Best Overall Home. On Friday, August 28, winners of both the People’s Choice and Industry
Awards of Excellence were honored by the HBA at the Parade of Homes Awards Banquet held at the Pinery at Black Forest with more than 200 in attendance. The sponsors of this year’s Award banquet was Arlun, Inc., Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. Luisa Graff Jewelers helped celebrate our 61st Parade of Homes by giving away a diamond ring to one lucky attendee of the banquet. Congratulations to winner Mike Ruebenson of La Plata Communities. This was also a fundraiser for our charitable foundation, HBA Cares.

Existing-home sales stall in August, prices moderate clude single–family homes, townhomes, condominiums and co–ops, fell 4.8 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.31 million in August from a slight downward revision of 5.58 million in July. Despite last month's decline, sales have risen year–over–year for 11 consecutive months and are 6.2 percent above a year ago (5.00 million). Lawrence Yun, NAR chief econo-
mist, says home sales in August lost some momentum to close out the summer. "Sales activity was down in many parts of the country last month — especially in the South and West — as the persistent summer theme of tight inventory levels likely deterred some buyers," he said. "The good news for the housing market is that price appreciation the last two months has started to moderate from
