#2 - Nikkyo

#3 - Sankyo

Aikido was created by Morihei Ueshiba, who used his extensive experience in jujitsu, sword, and spear fighting to create a new Budo. Aikido is unique because it’s performed by blending with the motion of the attacking person and redirecting the force of the attack rather then challenging it head-on. Entering and turning movements are used as techniques are completed with different combinations of throws, pins and joint locks.

Budo: Literally to stop the thrusting spear. “A mind to serve for the peace of all humanity is needed in Aikido, not the mind of one who wished to be strong and only practices to defeat an opponent. There are neither opponents nor enemies for true Budo. Therefore to compete in techniques, winning or losing, is not true Budo. True Budo knows no defeat. Never defeated means never fighting.” Excerpts from www.milwaukeeaikido.com
