Th is half-day, medium-diffi culty itinerary will take us to the cultural and religious sites of interest in the vicinity of Șumuleu Ciuc. Leaving the town, we will arrive at the Triple Hill Altar, and then climb up to Șumuleu Mic Hill, to the chapels of Jesus the Suff erer, Salvator and Saint Anthony. Descending from the mountain, we will rest in Mary’s Garden, and visit the Joannes Kájoni exhibition. During our journey, Lóránt Darvas, archaeolo gist of the Szekler Museum of Ciuc, will tell us about the legendary mountain, the chapels and the fi ndings of the archaeological excavations. Th e Concerto Spiralis and Camerata Naturalica early music ensembles will perform during the tour.
You will need comfortable shoes, a raincoat, water and snacks. Th e tour is 9 km long, with a 200 m diff erence in altitude; the duration of the programme is approximately 6 hours. Th e tour is subject to registration. Departure point: Frumoasa, Szekler Border Guard Memorial Center Departure time: 10.00 for hikers, 11.00 for those who request transport Route: Frumoasa, Szekler Border Guard Memorial Center – Kicsi Pogányhavas (Little Pagan’s Mountain) – Frumoasa
István Botár, the archaeologist of the Szekler Museum of Ciuc, will tell us about the former chapel of Saint Ladislaus, old pilgrimage routes and King Saint Ladislaus. Th e bell tower and shrine next to the chapel ruins commemorate the patron saint of Frumoasa, and we will evoke the old times with music under the shelter of the shrine. Afterwards, the municipality of Frumoasa invites all music and nature lovers to a stew prepared in a cauldron. On the way back to the village we recommend you to visit the Szekler Border Guard Memorial Center.
You will need a hat, water, hiking boots and a raincoat. Th e route is 10 km long, with a 427 m diff erence in altitude; the duration of the programme is about 5 hours.
